Alum: I'm an Alum of the South Windsor School District. During my tenure I attended Wapping Elementary School(closed, K-5), Timothy Edwards Middle School(6-8) and South Windsor High School(9-12). All three schools were challenging academically and pushed me in order to be equipped for college. In fact, I wish I took more advantage of the college preparatory classes than I did. South Windsor has a fantastic music program, that is dedicated to its students and allows them to grow starting in the 4th grade until they graduate High School. The technology in the schools were also very good. Timothy Edwards(middle school) was renovated in the early 2000s and still has state of the art technology. The town recently approved renovations to all 4 elementary schools in town. All are or will be state of the art facilities once complete. My only critique of South Windsor School District is the diversity. My sister and I who both attended SW had 1 combined black/African American teacher... Read 25 reviews

Parent: It’s a small town that tries very hard to give our kids what they need. There are many parents that are involved and vested in the cute of our kids. The teachers are almost all passionate about what they do and helping our child learn. Food is mostly nutritious, there is probably still some room for improvement. Alum: Windsor High School was a great experience for me. Coming from Haiti, they made sure I had all the resources that I would need to thrive and succeed. Senior: My experience at Bristol Central has been an overall fulfilling experience. When you get to know your teachers and get involved in what the school has to offer High school is a really great experience here. Parent: Both my children graduated from region 10 and were MORE than prepared for college compared to other students they encountered in college. The teachers and staff go above and beyond in educating , preparing, and nurturing the students. It is a small school system and the atmosphere supportive and there is a strong sense of community in the entire school system. I am grateful to the teachers for the education my children received in region 10 especially in the advanced and AP classes. Although the diversity is an issue, I do not feel this negatively impacted my children. They were taught the importance of diversity at school and at home in the world around them and continue to grow because of that to be amazing human beings who contribute positively to society.... Senior: Going into my junior year of high school my parents decided to take me out of a magnet school and bring me back to my home town public school. Ever since coming back to public school in my hometown East Hartford I've had nothing but success. My teachers and supporting staff in our high school help me achieve my goals of becoming THAT student. I came into the school barely making a 2.0 GPA and my junior year at EHHS I made high honors and multiple honors. Today my senior year I made high honors first quarter and currently at 3.5 gpa. I've learned so much about becoming a team as well as learning to help supporting staff in the school to help me become a young adult. Parent: My son attended a magnet school for 9 years in Hartford. The first few years with the administration were wonderful. They know how to attain funds and the school profited. The teachers were extremely involved in the curriculum. Once the original administration changed, so did the atmosphere at the school. Discipline became an issue. Key teachers began to find jobs elsewhere. The challenging atmosphere that was once there started to default to getting the kids through.
