Alum: Fort Mill High was a very enjoyable school to attend. I thought every teacher I had really cared about my education and wanted me to do the best I could. I could always come to them before or after class if I needed extra help on anything, not just classwork. Sports and all of the other activities were very fun to attend and even participate in! Senior year was definitely my favorite year as seniors get so many opportunities and chances to explore the world after high school and they encourage you to figure out what interests you and where you want to go in life.... Senior: I loved my experience in the Union County District. I use to go to Central Academy of Technology and Arts from freshman to sophomore year (2017-2019). Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. Senior: Not only do I love all Mooresville campuses, but the community is also amazing! I have grown up in Mooresville and have been in MGSD schools since kindergarten. The classroom sizes are great and the teachers are amazing! Also, the office staff and counselors make every student feel welcomed. The new high school campuses are huge and great, my personal favorites are the new gigantic gymnasium and lunch room. I wouldn't choose any other highschool to attend in my area than Mooresville!... Senior: Spending k-12 years of education in Cabarrus Country School System, you get to experience many pros compared to cons. Everyday, there is a sense of inclusiveness that is provided from the teachers and staff. The county itself is full of diversity which allows for students to intermingle of all races and living styles. As I grew older and made it to high school, life was good and it kept getting better. I love the events that were held after school hours. These dances, football games, and volunteer opportunities allow for it to seem a little more like High School Musical! Cabarrus county schools has attempted its very best during Covid-19 in trying to allow some sort of normality. In person classes are optional 2 days a week which is so beneficial because it allows people to choose if this is best fit for them. Freshman: The quality of this district depends on which school you go to. In my experience, most schools in this district are very diverse, and the academics at these schools are close to the best. The administration is a bit strict, and that’s a good thing. The school that I go to induces college readiness with a strict bell schedule and little transition time. We have resource locations in all our schools, in which counselors can be found anywhere in the building. Our schools do a good job getting everyone out of the building in case of an emergency, and our sports coaches are very strict when it comes to discipline. Our schools strive for parent involvement, as they are heavily encouraged to check their child’s grades, and are emailed every time a newsletter is sent out. In our classrooms, specifically my school, there is an issue where we can hear things from other classes. Senior: I attend Gaston Early College High School and it has truly been some of the best years of my life. The community and the teachers all work to get you to where you need to be and are there for the betterment of the students. While there have been some downs overall they take the time to help students and make sure that we are taken care of and heard. I think one thing that could be improved upon not just in Gaston Counth Sxhools but everywhere is taking the mental health of students (and staff) more seriously. School can be grueling and tough and can make you not want to get out of bed some mornings. Knowing that the school and staff at school are there and know that things might be tough and are willing to help you out would be so such better. I know there are some people who tough it out on their own because they feel that adults might not understand so knowing that efforts would be made in terms of mental health I think would be huge.... Senior: I've attended Rock Hill Schools since I was 4. The teachers who teach in Rock Hill are the absolute best. They're not only a teachers but they are a friend, mentor, and shoulder to lean on. All my teachers I've had I had a great bond with. The curriculum we learn in Rock Hill is great. Everything I've learned has connected with another class or helped me in life. Rock Hill School overall are pretty amazing. Some things I'd like to see change are more updated equipment. In my generation technology is what's commonly used. Our schools has the oldest equipments and the cause so much trouble. Our boards go completely out and our laptops crash constantly. I would also like to see the safety concerns change. The elementary school near my house has a gate but doesn't wrap around the back. Kids run back there all the time with no supervision. Lastly, I would like more mental health help for students.
