Senior: My experience in STISD was great because STISD has a lot of great things to offer. STISD has a lot of great clubs and activities. One club that the students get most excited about is HOSA since STISD almost always places on top since STISD already focuses on the medical field. STISD gives you the opportunity to graduate high school with a certification! On your senior year, you get to choose a program that you want to get into. I choose dental and I am a registered dental assistant and I also have my Nitrous Oxide Sedation Monitoring certification. STISD also offers a lot of AP classes to gain college credit. STISD is barely starting to add more sports because when I entered, there was only volleyball and basketball but they are adding golf, soccer, and softball! What I really enjoyed in my school was when we had enrichment day. Senior: My experience at Los Fresnos High School was an amazing time. The school provided a lot of resources to a variety of situations that a student may have. They offered after school study hall which helped students come by and have one on one sessions with teachers, had a college center that many junior and senior students went too for help with financial aid and college related materials. They held many college visits in the lecture hall and at least a college fair every year to get the idea of the "after high school what are you going to become" thought. Even though the main priority is education and college, the school also tries to make the students feel comfortable and to enjoy their time here in high school by providing rallies and other fun activities. My favorite memory of high school was when we had a homecoming rallies and the cheerleaders were having a dance off. Senior: I am currently a senior at Vanguard Academy. My overall experience regarding the past 4 years of my attendance at Vanguard has been a good one. Administration and the majority of teachers are approachable and kind. The academics is overwhelming when it comes to the amount of homework given; however, some teachers believe in no homework on Wednesday due to their knowledge of students attending church, which is thoughtful. I have been in the HCISD school district since the beginning of my high school career and my experience has been nothing short of pleasant. They make sure the students, faculty, and staff are well cared for and that there is a good community. They have given us countless opportunities to succeed and I never realized until all this recent school safety controversy, but our district cares about us so much and truly wants to keep us safe. Senior: The schools that belong to Rio Grande City CISD have always been concerned about the education of the students and their performance, always attentive to the needs of the students and in my personal case I entered 6th grade and they put me in bilingual classes since I came from living in Mexico and having knowledge of English they assigned me to those classes, after 3 months the Ringgold Middle School teacher in charge of the Bilingual problem saw my abilities and talked with my parents to change me to regular classes. The teachers were always aware of my school performance and did many things to help me and keep up with my classmates. Senior: I just graduated from Weslaco High School being a part of the Class of 2020. Overall being in the district of most of my academic years starting from 2008, Weslaco Independent School district is one of the best if not the best at being one of the most heavily student and academic focused districts that I know. In each school, the teachers and faculty care about students’ academic success. Not one school that I attended while being a student did one teacher not care for a student’s success. For example, during the pandemic, the district provided laptops and calculators to students without them and transitioned to the environment of online learning without any problems that I have heard of. They also provided lunch to students and children during this pandemic. Senior: The teachers are really good at teaching you what you need to know for tests and college. The counselors are amazing they will help you with what ever you need like changes, advice, and getting ready for college. Senior: I've been attending Santa Rosa independent school district since I was very young, around elementary age or so. When I was a child, I was brought to the elementary with promises of an education and friends. Me, being around six or so, hadn't known the world in such a manner before. I was excited even, eager to learn about this new place and the people that would be there too. I grew up in this district, slowly growing from elementary to middle and then finally, to high school. Santa Rosa is a small town with similar roads and similar stores. My classmates are children I have seen every day since I was a child. I know them, they know me. There's a comfort in being so tightly knitted together when put in comparison to other schools belonging to bigger districts. I think that with this comfort comes a sense of being known, of intimate connections where you are not a number; not a statistic in the school system. Senior: Mercedes Early College was a great place to go to highschool. With there being a small class and a small amount of staff, it made the school seem very family oriented. As I progressed through highschool, while also earning credits towards my associate's, I was giving the guidance and resources to help me become successful and achieve all my goals. I am grateful for my experiences here and I would like to see this school prosper finacially. The building is old and the campus is in need of an upgrade. To give hope to the future generation of scholars that come out of Mercedes, I feel that this is the place that needs to be around. Alum: As an alum of Raymondville high school, I found my experience to be be very enjoyable and memorable. Since the city of Raymondville is a small one, the close net community felt like home as well as the school. Raymondville high school is very welcoming and encouraging. Senior: Edcouch-Elsa has a good early college program. I will be graduating with my associate's degree in interdisciplinary studies because of this program. With that said, I would like to see more student resources or help with these programs.
