Junior: Yellow Wood is a solid choice for students who don't fit the usual mold, whether due to academic advancement, executive functioning difficulties, academic problems, or any combination of the above. I appreciate finally being given more challenging material than the public system can offer in my areas of strength, while also attending classes in an environment that addresses my distaste for needless social interaction. The only gripes I have about Yellow Wood are the lack of extracurricular variety (no NHS chapter, no science/math clubs, etc.) and the food. Clubs are established based on student interests, and there are apparently relatively few who share my level of enthusiasm for those particular subjects.... Read 3 reviews

Parent: What an amazing experience my child has had at this school! 1. Community: My child is excited to go to school. A great deal of that excitement is because there is such a strong sense of community. Whether or not a teacher has had your child in their classroom, they know your child. Each morning begins with Chapel, a time for the entire school to come together and discuss different topics ranging from character-development to world religions. 2. Celebration and Exploration: Different cultures and holidays are celebrated and explored, which not only creates understanding but also an awareness of what it means to be a global citizen. For my family, this is very important. 3. Character Development: While the academic curriculum is excellent, we wanted a place that looks to develop the whole child. Parent: Both my kids have had a great experience at Giddens, I highly recommend it! My daughter is in middle school now but frequently comes back to visit. We've found Giddens teachers and staff to be caring, dedicated and committed to ensuring each individual students needs are being met, both academically and on a social/emotional level.
