Freshman: This is my first year at CSW and, so far, it has been wonderful! I am being challenged with my work while being given the right amount of assistance and support from teachers. They provide many opportunities for their kids through their clubs and resources (though mainly focusing on science and math; they have no resources for arts). Senior: I recently transferred to Garnet Valley; however, I quickly adapted to the school with the help of the fantastic school staff and student body. I would recommend this school district to other students due to my wonderful experience there! If students and parents want to develop a unique and everlasting relationship with the culture of a school, definitely come study at Garnet. The usual experience of a high school is entirely different on the Valley's campus by being exciting and exquisite. Students will have a hard time encountering this environment elsewhere. Finally, I would recommend the school for the hardworking and solid values it taught me. Parent: I think the principle and staff overall really care about the students and safety and make learning fun and really do alot for the kids. The only negative, which is at every single school I'm sure, is the girls can be a bit rude, cliquey and not very loyal. Teachers however do alot to nip a problem in the bud. My kid is in 5th and I just tell her befriend kids here slowly because some will ice others out and bully. Senior: Odyssey is a great school! You get yo learn a different language of Greek, which has been an experience in itself. The majority of the teachers care about your overall well-being. Alum: The experience I had going to delcastle technical high school was phenomenal! There are so many different career paths to choose from. The teachers are very helpful and caring. They make sure that you understand the material that you are learning and refuse to ever give up on their students, no matter how long it takes. The offer help with job opportunities and financing and there is plenty of diversity, so it was very for me to fit it. Staff was also very strict on bullying and school violence, making sure that students felt safe in their environment. There are several clubs and student activities for students to participate in to make new friends, learn new skills, and improve social skills. I could not have asked for a better high school to spend my teenage years in, and I would absolutely recommend Delcastle technical High School to anyone who is looking for the greatest high school experience of a lifetime!... Senior: I love almost everything about the school, almost every teacher I had went above and beyond to help me in and outside of class, some going as far as to host late night study sessions for everyone in the class. I have had a good relationship with every teacher that I have had, and even some that I haven't had. I loved the large amount of activities available to students, and I thoroughly enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities and making friendships not only with fellow students, but with the teachers running the activities as well.... Parent: Middle School in general is a tough experience for all kids. They have to shift from being a 'little kid' to having to shoulder responsibilities. Northley does an excellent job of helping kids shift from Elementary School to Middle School and adapting to the accountabilities that come with it. They provide the learning tools needed to be successful. They have challenges, as many schools do, with some teaching staff who have lost their zest for teaching. I had two daughters pass through their halls, one just recently graduating the High School. Emotionally and socially, they did a great job. Academically, they are not as advanced or supportive as they need to be to help kids be competitive for good colleges. They abdicate that to the High School when it is really too late.... Senior: My overall experience at Freire Charter School was pretty good. I absolutely love all of the different after school programs that they offer you, such as Board Game Club, Academic Centers, Gay-Straight Alliance, and many more. I will say that Freire always puts their best foot forward when it comes to accommodating all of their student’s interest. They have amazing policies and procedures put in place to ensure the safety of all of their students. I have had the honor of meeting some amazing educators throughout my 4 years of being at Freire. Senior: I love Philadelphia Performing Arts: String Theory. My school is very different from ordinary high schools that just offer general education classes. We have a beautiful building that is in the heart of center city. I love that my high school offers major and elective classes alongside of our gen-ed classes. My school has a wide variety of majors that span from dance and music to tv and broadcasting and theater to stem, art and design. I have been an engineering major all throughout high school. I have also loved my architecture elective that I have been taking my last two years of high school. I am grateful for the resources and opportunities my school has opened up for me. I thank String Theory for allowing me to find a passion in architecture and engineering at such a young age. Junior: My name is Isyss and I'm a soon-to-be senior at Howard High School of Technology. My technical career area is Academy of Finance. Attending Howard is a blessing because it prepares us students for the real world and gives us an early start to our future careers. In Academy of Finance, we learn a lot. I think I speak for everyone when I say we don't realize how much we've learned until we're outside of the classroom. We learn about Entrepreneurship, financial literacy, credit, and stock markets. We also learn to stand out and create a brand for ourselves because at the end of the day, brand is more valuable than the product itself. Adults often tell us that we're learning things that they had to learn later in life, such as the five C's of credit or different kinds of investment accounts. Senior: I can say that this school has great academics, social life, safety, and sports. This school has a friendly teacher-student relationship. The students are pretty social with each other, preventing cliche`s similar to your classic high school movies. Certain sports are more involved than others, but students attend a majority of the meets for friends or great athletes.
