Freshman: I like the education and the people in the school, but the environment can be very stressful especially during important tests because everyone crams a lot of information. This also leads to a lot of people being depressed and overly stressed out about college. That is because it is an IB school and all of the classes are more rigorous and demanding. The school has some great teachers too on the bright side, especially in the science section. Junior: The academics at the school are amazing, and so are the teachers. They are very understanding and open to your opinions. However, I would like to see more diversity and more opportunities in sports and the arts. High school sports are something that you see throughout almost all high schools throughout America, but in the Academy, there's only one sport (soccer). We are studying almost all the time (and therefore, sitting), so it'd be great to get some more physical activity and get more sports into the Academy (football, volleyball, etc.).... Senior: South Brunswick High School is a good all around institution. There are a decent amount of resources provided to ready students for college, while there is access to a wide variety of courses for students of any grade. Though there isn't anything that particularly "stands out" about this school, it is a solid choice for those that want to be exposed to different subjects and potential career paths. Most of the staff at this school are kind and supportive and seem to truly care about their students. Many teachers are especially passionate about what they teach and are always a good resource for students that may need help. Senior: It was a school where I had to grow, for better or for worse. The school is tiny, so everyone in your grade will know each other. While this let me build some great bonds with people, it also means that you're stuck with the personality people assume you have. Even though we were small, we are cliquey. The education varies in quality. There are some good teachers, but the staff does not communicate with each other and some teachers believe that piling on assignments and making tests incredibly difficult will ensure that the rigor of the curriculum is preserved. However, I learned a ton and it affirmed that medicine was the field for me, and that's a discovery I would not have made in a regular high school. You also learn to develop your sense and understanding of self separate from your grades or education. Everyone here is smart! So you undergo a lot of self introspection and rediscover yourself.... Alum: I attended Princeton Charter School from Kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. It was a great experience, and I will really miss the school. Academically, PCS is one of the best elementary/middle schools out there. They have exceptionally strong Math and Language departments. However, the one of the best parts about this school are the teachers. They truly care about the students and push each and every one of them to be successful. There's also a strong community supporting the students. Some of my favorite Charter memories come from the various Picnics, Carnivals, and Field Days we did. Parent: My children have been at Hatikvah since Kindergarten and my eldest is now in middle school there. The education is unrivaled. The support from teachers and staff is amazing. They truly care about each and every student in the school - in their academic, personal, and social growth and development. In every area - from reading and writing to math and science to music and art. I am surprised but my children still LOVE going to school every day! Senior: I rate East Brunswick High School 5 stars. During my junior year especially, I appreciate how well organized my school was during the pandemic. They heavily modified their system and made virtual learning accessible to everyone. The school apps used were easy to navigate through, and especially during such a difficult time, I exceeded in my classes. The teachers are amazing, and integrated compassion through each of their lessons. With their challenging but interesting curriculum, emphasized the importance of leadership, and pushed me to think outside of the box. My teachers truly invested in my education and worked to see their students' achievements. The classes taught are engaging and open new broad opportunities and ideas for its students. There are different sports events, ranging from football to soccer and wrestling, bring the school spirit to an even higher level than before. Senior: I had a great experience at MCTS! The teachers were all highly accomplished and were able to effectively teach the students. Although AP classes were not offered, students are able to take dual enrollment classes to a much greater degree than any other public school, with several students graduating with enough credits to have an associate's degree before even leaving high school. The small school setting allows you to make close bonds with other students and is highly beneficial when it comes to competition. Niche User: It is a great school with great teachers and classes. Mostly everything is great. However, like the other reviews say, it is influenced by Indian culture greatly. Basically, being in a grade level class is seen as undesirable. A lot of this is due to tutoring companies like Kumon. This is not bad, but when your kid is bragging about he is in a calculus tutoring class in 7th grade, and how they are forced to study 24/7 and have no life, I wonder if it’s causing harm and problems for these kids. Alum: I liked the music department the most specifically the marching band and concert bands. I loved being a part of it. The academics were also good I just felt like some of the teachers could have been a little more caring. I did feel ready for college after graduating but I think a lot of that is just because of my personality. I always worked hard to be my best self, not because the teachers fostered it. The sports were good I think. My sister was on many of the sports teams and she loved them. The football and basketball games along with others were always fun to watch. I think the administration could have done a better job with handling different things that happened. They didn't always listen to what students and parents were concerned with. Overall, I think I had a good experience because of the music program and my friends. Freshman: Every school has it's ups and down. Here at Churchill Junior High School I felt that the positives outweighed the negatives. The school had a positive and welcoming attitude. Both the students and staff cooperate with each other. In addition, the school offered a wide range of activities. There were many sports and after school clubs to get involved in. Senior: When I first came to Old Bridge Highschool as a freshman, there is a whole different building just for freshman. It felt much easier just having to go to a specific building meant for freshman to have an actual fresh high school experience. Many opportunities were open to me academically as a freshman. My sophomore and junior year was in the main building and I felt confident enough to succeed, because of my freshman year. I didn't really enjoy playing on the soccer team, because the coach was biased. There are a lot of enjoyable clubs that made it easier for me to socialize. There is even a specific mental health counselor for students which I love! Overall, the past three years have been a rollercoaster, but my school made me come out of my shell a little bit, because of the many opportunities I had access to that made my experience better....
