Alum: i loved charter, i didn’t realize it till later. the school is strict but it didnt matter because of how much fun i had that school was my family. there was never bullying. but downsides is that the school is very small and we dont have a lot if money for more resources, food is terrible... Parent: I have two children at The Birches, in 6th and 4th grade, and couldn't be happier with our experience. My oldest switched from town school in 2nd grade and my youngest was part of the first kindergarten at The Birches. Teaching is individualized, allowing students to move ahead if able or gain extra support if needed. Math is held during the same time throughout the school so students can move up a grade if they are excelling. The arts integrated approach allows creativity and hands on learning. Parent: Very safe and friendly environment for my children. The school wants the parents to get engaged in the school community which I appreciate so much. Zero bullying issues. My children feel respected and loved in this school. The teachers are happy and eager to communicate with the parents regarding any issue. The administrative team is very helpful and responsible. Reading, languages and art are great in the school , Math is not as strong , I have to work with my children at home. Science studies are very limited. Middle School Student: It depends on the teachers and students, if you have a good experience or not. I had a great experience here. I had a few close friends, and many friendly friends. Teachers were great for me. They understood that we are kids and sometimes, we have bad days. They have lots of sports and clubs to choose from. Corona cut my time here short, but this is an amazing school, even if its short of 100 years old. The renovations will make this school even better than it already is. Senior: Overall, I don’t have much to complain about. My experience with the school itself has actually been wonderful. The newly renovated building is gorgeous and comfortable, and some of the classes offered here have opportunities that don’t exist at other schools. Our CTE programs are incredible. I’ve also loved the majority of my teachers, the guidance department, and the other support systems at SHS. Of course, there are always ways to improve. Junior: During my time at Founders, I’ve overall had a positive experience. The majority of teachers here are nice, understanding, and devoted to making sure students reach mastery in class. The community at Founder’s is also good; I’ve never seen any bullying in my 5 years of attendance. The worst thing about this school is the lack of AP classes. I believe there’s only one available and it’s in computer science. I understand that it’s a new school, but it’s really annoying especially when trying to build up a college resume.... Senior: What I liked about my experience at Whittier Tech is that the teachers were generally always great and helpful throughout the whole 4 years. I enjoyed going through all exploratory technical programs and learned a lot from my time here. You choose a specific technical program to go into and it's great to have backup skills in that trade in the real world. I made very good lifelong friends and a partner which I will always be grateful to Whittier Tech for. Overall I had a great time and recommend this school to anyone, not just people who wish to go into technical programs. It will be very worthwhile whether you're fully enrolled for 4 years or choose to do night school. I learned information from going to this school that will stay relevant throughout my whole life.... Senior: The Arts Academy of New Hampshire is a small charter school in Salem New Hampshire. As the name would suggest, it holds a strong focus on the arts, while remaining flexible with students looking to push themselves with their academics through offering online courses. It is a tight-knit community where you often get to know just about everyone after you've been there for awhile, and it offers a safe space for students who are part of the lgbtq+ community, have any sort of disability, or just generally have had bad experiences with public schools in the past. I would highly recommend this school to any of my peers, especially to those who have done well in charter schools in the past or who have not fit in well to traditional highschools.... Parent: My son't first year as a 7th grader has been amazing. He is happy, feels protected; since bullying is taken care of swiftly, and is eager to learn. As a seasoned mother & having enrolled my adult children in both private and public schools this is hands down the best suited for my child. The teachers make time for extra help. Kindness and understanding brings about results. My son truly enjoyed his first year and has settled nicely even with COVID. The teachers gave time beyond measure to all their students. There is a sense of responsibility and compassion. He enjoyed his studies, the teachers made his studies relatable. History class was so informative; Mom even listened in during this COVID year :) . Niche User: Although I have only spent one year in Lawrence High School, it was one of my best experiences in my life so far! The Teachers and Staff are very helpful to students because, they push them to earn good grades. However, Lawrence High and many schools in Lawrence public school, doesn’t get as much funding compared to other schools in Massachusetts. In result, Students are not able to get more resources they need due to lack of funding. Moreover, Lawrence High is full of strong will and passionate students and staff who both work hard. Senior: When I was in the 8th grade, I was given a paper on whether I wanted to attend to GLTS. I heard rumors about how it's competitive if you are accepted or not by the school and that they had trade programs which made me interested in signing the paper. In 2019, I was happy that I got accepted and saw so many people from different schools that came to the orientation. We were shown around the school and the environment felt very welcoming. In my first year as a freshman, the school always has this event where you're introduced to sports and clubs. My friends and I chose to do Cross Country, it was a lot of fun and we got to meet new people which was exciting. GLTS always has great opportunities for its students such as programs, CO-OP, sports, receiving scholarships, dual enrollment, and so on.
