Ward Melville Senior High School

Senior: Ward Melville is an awesome place! There is always something to do. There are clubs ranging from Ceramics Club to Chamber Orchestra. We have great athletics, including a boys' lacrosse team that has won States, a top notch fencing team, and a tennis team that has won counties. In terms of student life, there are cliques but many people from different groups will be close. I have close friends from different friend groups and I couldn't be happier. Big class size means constantly meeting new people. In terms of academics, it can be pretty challenging, coming from an AP/Honors student. It's a lot of work but it's manageable. The teachers here are usually willing to help and pretty understanding. The environment here is somewhat competitive. Students like to work together but they also want others to learn from mistakes. Food here is okay, could be healthier. Note that many kids here are children of employees at the numerous nearby hospitals and Stony Brook University.

Comsewogue High School

Senior: The school lacks a large academic drive that other schools have. There is a narrow range of classes offered, and academic clubs are limited. Also, there are only eight periods in a day, with an optional ninth period for extra help. The food in the cafeteria is nothing special, but the environment makes it better. School spirit in Comsewogue is huge, and it helps unify all the kids. The faculty are kind and caring, the students stand up for one another, and the school lets students have fun. I'll never regret attending this school because Comsewogue knows how to create a wonderful school atmosphere.

Newfield High School

Senior: What I will always remember about Newfield is our school spirit. Our bleaches at our football games were continuously packed out, students had to sit on the ground. Everyone went wild for the halftime performances- cheer and kickline, which I participated in. The teams were like family, I will never forget the tradition of our group chants and pasta parties before every game. The teachers will always have a special place in my heart. They really care about their students and want to see them succeed, they're really helpful. If I could change one thing, it would be how administration deals with situations. My friend was getting harrassed by an ex boyfriend, and she thought the school would help her. Instead our grade administrator made them sit in a room together and sign paper saying that if one of them talked about it, they would get suspended. I didn't think that was right or fair. However, Newfield High School was a great school to me, I wish my senior year wasn't cut short.
