Junior: Looking back at my middle school years, I can say that I had a satisfied experience. I feel like the staff and students of Scappoose Middle School are very supportive, caring, and very academically engaging. I became close to some of the staff, which made my middle school experience comfortable. Those staff taught me important life lessons that I will forever carry along with me. If I ever decide to live in Scappoose again, I’ll be more than happy to go back to visit and and get the change to “relive” my memories.

Junior: I like the community of people, everyone there is willing to put in the work and help each other out. during sporting events a very large portion of the student show up to support their fellow classmates. The only thing I would change is the teaching aspect of it. What I mean by that is teaching the things that just about every school leaves out before college. They leave out things you actually need in the real world, such as; how to start a business or how to work efficiently with others.

Alum: I loved going to Waring. The academics are unparalleled. Not only do you study a myriad of subjects, you learn the philosophy behind them. Teachers genuinely care about their students. Waring has made considerable effort to increase diversity in the past five years, they have their hearts in the right place but they dont seem to put any funding behind their efforts - at least not in terms of scholarship money. The social scene in my early years a student was trying, but ultimately taught me skills that will aid me in my chosen career path. This is influenced by a clear decision to favor traditional sports over other hobbies. Thanks to Waring, I'm well prepared for college, often having covered many topics in my early high school years at Waring. I am well prepared for collaborative projects, and I'm very well travelled thanks to all the opportunities Waring provides. If you're curious about Waring, go visit; attend student plays, art shows, or sports games. It's an incredible school.

High School Senior: What I love about my community is that everybody, from kids to alumni and grandparents, are very involved in all activities. Everybody in this county is very supportive of the high school and students, especially the student-athletes. We always get good crowds and support at games as well as donations to the athletic foundation to assure that they are continued. It is the only high school in the county but even if I were given the choice I would always choose SJSHS. I love the small town, family feeling that surrounds my hometown and school. Being small is a curse and a blessing to the students because on one side it is very interactive, personal, familiar and great for learning but on the other side comes less funding, opportunities, peers and slim-to-none chances of college recruitment in athletics and the like. Overall, I love this place and even am pretty fond of my little school and class that has become a part of my big family.
