Alum: I loved my experience at stem - everyone from teachers to students are friendly and amazing, and we have a lot of resources, encouragement, and support from the school to enter competitions and pursue our passions. The school is pretty small compared to other high schools though, but that's a good thing for me because I was able to form amazing friendships and we are a tight-knit community. I would not suggest attending if you are not willing to put in the work because it is very stressful due to most classes being honors or AP, and you should be prepared to take multiple science classes in one year. Also, there are not many humanities classes, but I know amazing artists and passionate historians in the school that formed clubs related to their interests. Senior: As a rising senior, I know that my education at ICS has shaped me into the person I am. From 6th grade to the present, ICS has continued to challenge and engage me with its rigorous coursework (all honors classes). Each year builds upon what I have learned in the previous years, which has allowed me to excel in my classes. The teachers are amazing and dedicated to what they do. Although I may have missed out on some of the larger social aspects associated with a larger school, the small community at ICS is fun to be a part of, as you get to know everyone on an individual basis, including teachers, fellow students, and underclassman over the course of 6 years. There are lots of opportunities for mentorship and leadership with the clubs and activities here as well. Junior: I've enjoyed many parts of high school, like meeting new people and learning new material. Extracurricular opportunities have always been the largest contributing factor to my enjoyment and how I've met the most friends. Having involvement in a wide variety of clubs, sports, and activities has also been a big help. However, there are also many things to dislike. For example, the strict routine with minimal time to socialize and eat during lunch. Overall, many of the teachers are fantastic and make me want to participate and absorb new material. But teachers in the math department tend to be lacking. The student body is almost 2,500 students and tends to lack school spirit and unity, but there is lots of work being to done to try to remedy that. With additions to improve student learning with better teacher and attempts to bring students together that more accurately cater to students the school would be a much better place.... Junior: There are many nice teachers and staff members who are willing to give extra help and advice when needed. There are also many students, so many opportunities to make friends and meet new people as well. Because of the number of students, the hallways do get crowded, as well as the parking lots directly before and afterschool. Alum: Issaquah High School has a variety of classes available, a relaxed school culture, and a multitude of extracurriculars. Issaquah offers many AP, honors, and elective courses. While there are state course requirements, students are given a lot of freedom in choosing their courses. I really enjoyed the relaxed school culture in my time there. The school has a relaxed phone policy and dress code and the administration often involves teachers' feedback in their decision-making. The students themselves are very friendly and academically motivated. Most teachers are approachable and kind. Overall, I hope that the school takes back the strict bathroom policy it implemented this past year. The school itself is a little dirty and overcrowded. The school is large and there are so many people to meet and clubs & sports to get involved in. Overall I really loved my time there! Junior: I love how Skyline is an inclusive and diverse environment. It encourages individuality and cooperation. We hold many unique events and celebrations, and I love seeing everyone show their school spirit. The teachers are very supportive and we have a variety of assignments that work for every type of learning. I would love to see more clubs at the school, even though we already have a variety. I would also enjoy it if we had more classes on college readiness and future skills, such as ones dedicated to the college experience and for information on housing, banking, home economics/cooking, and other critical skills.... Middle School Student: Words cannot describe how much I loved this school. Having gone to 3 other elementary schools (the last one definitely not being my favorite), it was a big relief for me having attended this school in my last year of elementary. I can definitely see why they're rated the best public elementary school in Washington...they really live up to their fame. There's a lot of good diversity, the students are super nice and friendly, the teachers are so helpful, and the staff is just so kind. Only thing I'd change would be the separation of Quest (Gifted) and GenEd (general education.) Having been a Quest student myself, I can definitely tell you that while socializing, Questies hang out with mostly other Questies and vice versa. In fact, I don't think I had even one GenEd friend the whole school year. Overall this is such an amazing school. I definitely recommend it, and it's tied for my favorite elementary school I went to (which is surprising since I went to top-rated schools a lot.)... Read 1 review

Alum: I attended this school from 2008-2014. I was a special Ed student but was only pulled out of class once a week for those services. The education was good, especially compared to what I’ve seen my younger siblings have learned at their elementary school (Lakeside). Middle School Student: Renaissance is a phenomenal school, and the connections I made will stay with me for the rest of my life. Classes are small, 32 kids a grade, so kids make friends very easily and get to know everyone in the school. The teachers are warm and inviting, helping out students that are having trouble in classes, and joking around with students. The art program is amazing, with students doing mosaics, water color, pastels, and learning about the color wheel and drawing techniques. The performing arts program is also great, with the first semester being focused on dance, and the second on acting. RSAR is the best school I've been to, and I've met my best friends there....
