Alum: i loved charter, i didn’t realize it till later. the school is strict but it didnt matter because of how much fun i had that school was my family. there was never bullying. but downsides is that the school is very small and we dont have a lot if money for more resources, food is terrible... Parent: I have two children at The Birches, in 6th and 4th grade, and couldn't be happier with our experience. My oldest switched from town school in 2nd grade and my youngest was part of the first kindergarten at The Birches. Teaching is individualized, allowing students to move ahead if able or gain extra support if needed. Math is held during the same time throughout the school so students can move up a grade if they are excelling. The arts integrated approach allows creativity and hands on learning. Senior: What I liked about my experience at Whittier Tech is that the teachers were generally always great and helpful throughout the whole 4 years. I enjoyed going through all exploratory technical programs and learned a lot from my time here. You choose a specific technical program to go into and it's great to have backup skills in that trade in the real world. I made very good lifelong friends and a partner which I will always be grateful to Whittier Tech for. Overall I had a great time and recommend this school to anyone, not just people who wish to go into technical programs. It will be very worthwhile whether you're fully enrolled for 4 years or choose to do night school. I learned information from going to this school that will stay relevant throughout my whole life.... Niche User: My son would prefer not to attend school and he does go (of course), and his interest is increased by the excitement of the teachers to teach their specific subjects (science has been a special interest of his due to his teacher's positive creativity). The clubs available after school have been a positive way for him to make new friends and I am impressed by the commitment of so many of the teachers to remain for additional time after the official school day ends. Computer club has been my son's favorite. The library is a delightful place to spend time and borrow books. There are many positives and I can't think of a negative after 2 years at this school.... Senior: The Arts Academy of New Hampshire is a small charter school in Salem New Hampshire. As the name would suggest, it holds a strong focus on the arts, while remaining flexible with students looking to push themselves with their academics through offering online courses. It is a tight-knit community where you often get to know just about everyone after you've been there for awhile, and it offers a safe space for students who are part of the lgbtq+ community, have any sort of disability, or just generally have had bad experiences with public schools in the past. I would highly recommend this school to any of my peers, especially to those who have done well in charter schools in the past or who have not fit in well to traditional highschools.... Niche User: Although I have only spent one year in Lawrence High School, it was one of my best experiences in my life so far! The Teachers and Staff are very helpful to students because, they push them to earn good grades. However, Lawrence High and many schools in Lawrence public school, doesn’t get as much funding compared to other schools in Massachusetts. In result, Students are not able to get more resources they need due to lack of funding. Moreover, Lawrence High is full of strong will and passionate students and staff who both work hard. Senior: My experience here is great and I’m only a senior.This school gives you a chance to start learning and experience a career goal that you may want to do in the future. They have a cool program where you could do co-op which is like you get to work outside of school at a job related to your career job. This is really good and you also make money which helps you become more responsible with your money . There are times where I could stress but the teachers are there like a band-aid ready to take care of you and help you. It feels safe here as there is rarely any fights but in Lawrence there are highschool a where there are fights and people bringing weapons which is not a safe environment. The sports here are really good it’s fun to be able to hang out with friends after school and especially make new ones.Those are reasons why I love my overall experience it’s fun and get to meet new people every day and do extracurricular activities here.... Parent: My child has been there since kindergarten and thrives in the Hillview Montessori environment. He has been extremely lucky to have the most patient and kind teachers in lower elementary. They have done phenomenal throughout the pandemic as well. Everyone is very welcoming and they create a very family like atmosphere.
