Parent: Our son is a graduating senior (2023) and we can't be happier at STEM. He was part of the first elementary class (grade 5) and has been at STEM ever since. This has allowed him to develop close friendships with peers, great relationships with teachers and staff, and a solid career path at age 17. He will actually graduate from college with an Associate's degree in Cybersecurity before he graduates from high school! This was made possible with participation in P-Tech and the Concurrent Enrollment programs. He is now well-prepared for college and for life. If your child shows propensity for engineering or technology, math or science, STEM will nurture those gifts and provide many opportunities to shine, not only through advanced classes, but also enrichment including Tech Student's Association, Computer Science Honor Society, BEST Robotics,Cyberpariot, paid internships, and more. Senior: I have had a wonderful high school experience at Chaparral High School. So many of my teachers have been not only passionate about the subjects they teach but also about being there and supporting their students. I think that the community in Chaparral, called the Chap Fam for a reason, is unmatched by almost all high schools across the country. There is something for everyone at Chap; anyone can find people with similar interests and feel like they belong. I feel like I am prepared for college and the rest of my life due to my high school. The academics, specifically the variety of classes offered, really benefitted me throughout high school. Sophomore: I actually went to Colorado Early Colleges Inverness but they had no option for that campus. I really enjoyed going to high school there. The student body is tiny but I like that it gives you an opportunity to know all of the students a little bit. The faculty is fantastic! Best of all, the whole purpose of the school is to graduate all of their students with Associates degrees. We can take college classes on campus or we can take them directly from Arapahoe Community College. This is an amazing opportunity for students who will pursue a degree after high school.... Alum: Legend High School is a very large, uplifting, bright, and happy school! All the teachers at this school truly care about their students and make an effort to have a relationship with them. All the teachers here want to see their students succeed and make sure that they can do so by helping them at every time of the day. Legend is also very inclusive and has made adjustment to make every student feel comfortable with going to school there! Parent: This school has been an answer to our prayers. Our eldest child’s unique emotional-social needs are being met and coached. Academically, both our children receive quality instruction; these teachers care and are responsive to parent input and concern. It has been a rough year in terms of school funding and offering teachers competitive salaries, yet the admin and teachers are diligently pressing on. We are so grateful for that. The admin staff has the students’ best always in mind. Oh! And Adventure Education! Senior: I really enjoyed my experience with teachers, most were very qualified and helped me succeed. I also enjoyed my experience with the extracurriculars, including theatre, NEHS, NHS, and Link Crew. The only reason that it doesn't get the full 5 stars is that some of the people I have encountered have been impossibly rude. They have been disrespectful to my person and to my friends which is simply not okay in my book. Middle School Student: The small number of students allows for more one on one learning time with the teachers, which helps the teachers to make sure that each student is really understanding the material. This, combined with each child's ability to work at their own pace, independently, or with a group, make for a perfect learning environment. Another important aspect is that the school, because of it's small numbers, feels more like a community or family than a school. Each student knows the other students, and the teachers know the students as well, an opportunity that would not be provided at a typical public school.
