Edwardsville High School
#101 Best Public High Schools in Illinois

Senior: Edwardsville High School has great academic programs. The school provides AP classes and dual credit enrollment classes through Lewis and Clark Community College. However, most classes, especially honors classes, are homework heavy. The sports and fine arts programs are excellent but very competitive. If you want to be in a sport in high school, you need to start doing the sport in kindergarten in order to make the team. The sports and fine arts programs require long hours at practices and competitions, so you can usually be involved in only one sport or fine arts program. The high school has about 2,000 students which means you constantly run into new faces. The building isn't really big enough to hold everyone. Some students had to eat lunch on the hallway floor because the cafeteria was too crowded, and some students have to be bussed to a separate building. Overall, my experience was pretty positive, and my suggestion to a new student at Edwardsville High School is to join clubs...

Senior: Excellent school! Enjoyed all my years in attendance at all levels. Teachers were always helpful and nice. A very small town feel where every one joins together for sporting events and when there is sorrow and happiness. The college preparing is at a high level. Staff is always helpful and nice. Not sure I would change a thing for elementary or high school. Enjoyed all the clubs I was in. I always feel safe. Our administration is always on top of things when it comes to the safety of staff and students. I always find our fans are involved in all sports. Our parents are always involved in sports boosters, band parents, post prom activities and fund raisers...

Junior: Bunker Hill High School, also known as BHHS has been a definite impact on my life. The teachers and faculty are such great inspirations. I personally enjoy being in my classes, working together with other students, learning more and more. The building itself isn't the best looking, but has great safety add-ons within the past years. All of the teachers are very helpful and extremely easy to talk to if needed. At BHHS, you never have to feel alone. There is always someone there for you whether it is another student, the counselor, or even the lunch ladies! I couldn't imagine graduating anywhere but here. I'm proud of the small town I grew up in and the one hall high school that I attended for 3 years so far. ...
