Senior: CCTL is an amazing school that has provided me with the opportunity to receive my GED and Associate’s degree in five years. I think this school has changed people’s lives for the better by making college accessible to low income people. The teachers at this school are phenomenal and motivated to do their jobs. I think all the teachers at my school care for their students, and I learned valuable life lessons from each class. For example, I learned about mortgages, personal finance, credit institutions, and how the market system works. Additionally, I learned about the importance of recognizing personal biases, being open to innovative & different ideas, and disagreeing with people rationally. I gained satisfaction with reading, research, and learning about History, English, and Civics & Economics because of the teachers at my school. I think this is one of the best high school experiences in NC, and I recommend early college programs for everybody, it will change their lives.... Read 103 reviews

Parent: 2 of my kids went to Nv, I can say from experience our school has excellent educators and many extra curricular clubs for the students to take part in but also the past few years our athletic dept has been outstanding. Alum: Very good school. Very diverse, I have no idea why the diversity score is so low. My class had about half white kids and the other half were of some other ethnicity which is a complete different experience from any other school. This school prepared me for high school very well and I had no problems with any of the teachers.... Read 8 reviews

Junior: This is a great place to go to High School! The workload sometimes seems insurmountable, but the teachers are always willing to help! They truly do care about their students and will go out of their way to help you understand something! Most teachers actually have a sense of humor which makes the day much more enjoyable. The only complaints I have are about sports, however, when you come to Challenger you have to understand that you didn't come here for the athletics, you came to be challenged academically. I would recommend coming here to anybody that wishes to be challenged and anybody that doesn't believe that sports is the only thing that matters in High School.... Read 156 reviews

Senior: At Crossroads Arts and Science Early College, students are able to receive a free associate’s degree while in high school. After high school, students will have 2 years of transferable college credit to use at any North Carolina public university. Being able to simultaneously receive a high school diploma and associate’s degree is the main thing I love about Crossroads. It has saved me a lot of time and money. The teachers are amazing and very supportive. Students are able to play sports for the local high school, Statesville High. We can even join clubs, such as yearbook, FBLA, beta club, student council, chess club, or science club. As a senior, I am very thankful for the support the staff and students have given me. Senior: Alexander Early College is a great school! It is a school that has helped guide me throughout high school and prepare me for life after high school. The teachers here are extraordinary, they love their students and the students always feel at home. Middle School Student: My middle school experience was awesome! East Alexander Middle School was a phenomenal learning environment for me. The school helped me to grow and learn as a student and as a young adult. All faculty had the best interest of all the students. From the principal to the janitors, all were kind and interested in keeping the school a safe, clean, and dependable place to learn. Alum: Alexander Central High School made sure that their students had a plan right afterward. Whether it was going to college or getting a job or enlisting in the army, the school made sure that you had a path. Apart from that, the school put so much time into their athletics like football that they weren't spending the money on other important things like laptops and textbooks for the students.
