Senior: The International Academy of Macomb taught me many lessons that I will use throughout my life. The school itself has an atmosphere like none other as it feels like one big family. Due to the size of the school being about 400 people total, everyone gets to know each other well, especially with the relationships with the teachers. The connections we make will help ease our future endeavors as everyone will support you. The school is also very diverse with lots of cultures as it is the largest magnet school in Michigan. Diversity is important in a school as this will bring different cultures and ethnicities together overall strengthening the student body. Some improvements that the school should make are the various items that the school uses its budget to buy. For example wooden flooring on a section of the school rather than the entire school and locks on doors that become useless. Senior: Eisenhower is a great school! The moment I walk through the door, I felt welcomed, accepted and safe. Great teachers make a school great. I am lucky to have experienced positive relationships with my teachers. We have many volunteer programs that encourages students to give back to the community. I admire not only my school administrators but also my school district. They have shown great leadership in good and bad times. Eisenhower rigorous curriculum definitely make my school great. Alum: I believe the communication about things like clubs and information about applying to college could be much better but there is great academic quality and athletics. There are mostly great teachers but there are a few that make learning unenjoyable. This school could be amazing for some and awful for others, but it’s generally a beneficial high school experience. One bonus thing, the safety sucks. Anyone can just walk in because the security guards are sleeping all the time and the doors are all unlocked. Senior: Highschool experience should include learning, fun, friends, memories, drama, connections, opportunities, sports, clubs, etc. I belive that my highschool experience included everything mentioned despite missing out on months of school due to COVID-19. However, the years in which I did experience the things mentioned, it has shaped me to become the independent individual I am today. It has also taught me how to stay positive, persevere, do my best, be a leader, pursue success, exhibit my personal qualities, and so much more. Through being a student at Chippewa Valley, it has allowed me to learn more about myself as to how to handle difficult situations, overcome them, and the ability to overcome new challenges.
