Junior: I am a junior at Bergen County Academies and I have had a good experience so far. The teachers at Bergen County Academies are for the most part very knowledgeable in their fields. They are willing to go above and beyond. I also appreciate the fact that the school tries to ensure college readiness through guidance seminar and an overall competitive environment. One thing that I would like to see change at Bergen County Academies is the availability of resources for students. While the school does have a lot of resources available, I feel like there could be more support for students who are struggling academically or who need extra help. Another issue students may encounter is the fact that they are locked into their chosen academy. Overall, my experience at Bergen County Academies has been positive. It is a great school with a strong focus on academics and extracurricular activities, but getting involved in those activities might be difficult due to the already extended school day.... Senior: Bergen Tech Teterboro is really a wonderful school in so many ways! It has offered me so many different opportunities to further my academic career as well as many different ways to pursue my passions. One thing I love about our school is that since we're a technical school we have majors, Digital Media for the win, we have the chance to not only learn skills that we would have to wait for college to learn, but we also have the opportunity to work with industry standard equipment and materials that prepare us for entry into the workforce. Junior: I love High Tech High School! I am a musical theater major, and although this school is amazing with the arts, now I feel as if we are getting less and less funding. We make the best with what we can though, and are going to put on a great spring show! For the school in general, I think everyone would appreciate more AP's junior year instead of only 2 options and then all AP's senior year, but at least we have the chance to get them in then with many options.... Parent: My children goes to this school since it opened its gates. It has a very welcoming environment and a family friendly school. Approaching the management is very easy and always get the information we are looking for. Academically, this school follows a very positive approach and set a very high standards for student's learning. Apart from the State testing NJSLA (former PARCC), this school also assess the children via MAPS. This testing method will be three times during the year, to continuously monitor student's progress. Teachers are very much committed to make the students acheive their academic goals set during the starting of the years. This school also has Micro-society program which is the concept that it is being built on and all the children will take part in this every day for one school hour. Junior: I like County Prep High School because of its diversity and outstanding academic standing. There are students from all over Hudson County enrolled in this school. The teachers are helpful, resourceful, understanding, and great at preparing students for the real world. The counselors are also very active and always there for the students. Parent: It's an amazing that Hoboken has this school as an option in town. The teachers are fully committed to the dual language immersion model and my children are speaking beautiful Spanish around the home. But, my kids are also doing great in "traditional" academics -- their English writing is better than kids their age in other schools. Alum: As an alum of ATHS, I believe that attending here can be one of the best decisions a student makes for their future. After having graduated from ATHS with an Associate's Degree, I was able to graduate from NJIT earlier than most! Senior: I love how my school has adequate resources to prepare us for college such as chrome books and great counselor that help us revise our personal statements countless of times and work on getting us accepted into college. Alum: This school is a good school to go to if you live in Jersey city: decent education for cheap, the school is horribly underfunded and the teachers aren’t paid very much so they struggle to keep teachers, most teachers are good but some are annoying. K-5 classes have a great community but in the middle school people transfer in and out and a lot of annoying people come in. Senior: I started studying in this school over one year ago, and I can honestly say that is a good, friendly, bullying-free, huge diverse school. The relationship with the teachers is not just a "professional" relation, the teachers could also be your friends, and they can also help you with whatever they can. The relationship between students is very spectacular since there's not a "dominant race" and everyone is different, which makes the school a bullying-free zone, and the fact that everyone is different is the only thing that makes them the same. The administration is really helpful, in my own experience, the administration has helped me a lot since I came here recently, I didn't know how was the process to apply to any university, or how I could apply for any scholarships. Niche User: My experience here at MLVR, which I attended for a full eight years was very good. I believe that there is an amazing atmosphere here, everyone is treated like a whole family. All the teachers I had, had nothing but great personalities and genuine bonds with students. MLVR supplies students a lot with technology. When entering the middle school building, in 5th grade, students are supplied with tablets that stay at school, as they rise to the upper grades more trust is put upon them and they are instead given chrome books that are allowed to be taken home. Lunch isn't the best but I don’t think you’ll go to any public school that serves gourmet food. There are many activities that the school has in which students and parents can get involved. The only thing I would change about MLVR is having sports. The school use to have sports but they were removed some time ago. They have to make a comeback and I believe that the school including sports will make the school even better.... Read 1 review

Parent: My son is in kindergarten and so far it has been an amazing experience. The staff gets a 100 percent for communication. My emails always get answered within the same day. My son is in kindergarten and his teacher and gym teacher go above and beyond as well as other staff members at the school. The lunch lady even shows concern for my son making sure that he eat each day and always ensuring that he gets an alternative if he doesn't like the main meal that is available. Senior: Hoboken Charter School is a diverse community with supportive classmates and staff. The school has had many positive changes over the course of time I was there. Teachers help students who are struggling with a certain subject. When I had trouble in math, my teacher let me stay with them 30 minutes after class to help me understand a certain topic. For clubs, they have a few such a sports club, chess club and cheerleaders. My personal favorite is the robotics club. The club introduces teamwork with students in different grades and into STEM for beginners. The school prepare students well for college in senior year by having them fill out the FASFA and brings in Admission Officers from other colleges to introduce to the students.
