Senior: Haynes has been such an awesome experience for me. I didn’t receive a seat until my Junior year, but once a seat finally opened up and I was able to enroll I was able to make friends quickly. The students, teachers and staff were very welcoming and made me feel like I belonged right away. I was able to jump right into talented music and art as well as take part in the productions with theatre. I am so thankful for a public school that has all of these accommodations available to us. The teachers strive hard to prepare us for college and there are many opportunities at Haynes to get a step ahead in planning for our journeys into college after graduation. At the end of my junior year Haynes took us on a trip called junior journey. We were able to travel by bus and tour several college campuses along the way from Louisiana to Tennessee. Junior: As a student that attends Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology academy, I believe that this school and its staff put education at the forefront of everything they do. Since it is a science and technology school, there are ample resources that can propel its students to excellence when it comes to science and technology matters. When it comes to extracurricular activities, PFTSTA funds the clubs by having different fundraisers specifically made for certain clubs. Sports is definitely not a priority, although they just built a new gym for basketball games and volleyball games. Parent: I love the opportunity for my grandchildren to learn a different language. ISL is a top 10 language immersion school, kindergarten through 8th grade, average size classrooms with 2 teachers each. Along with the core subjects, Art, Circus Arts, Music, and PE are included. They have a good after care program. In the morning there is carpool dropoff, but no carpool pickup in the afternoons, so I would like that to change. Bus service can be provided depending on your location. There are several campuses that teach Spanish, French, and other languages, teachers are from various countries. It's an amazing school! Rated Gambit's Top School 2022. Seats fill up quick! So don't hesitate! Kindergarten students are not required to know the target language upon enrollment, 2d grade students must have knowledge of the target language to be accepted into ISL. Alum: I loved the people and memories! My advice is to be yourself going into high school. High school can be a lot to take in but if you go in with your head held strong and a positive attitude it will be a great experience. Get involved whether that is playing a sport, playing in the band, or singing in the choir. Be yourself and find people that will help you grow. Focus on your academics and have study groups. Alum: Kenner Discover to its foundations provide its student a great standard approach to learning and filling the future generations with knowledge. This school operates acceptance on a lottery system and in itself offers students access to a high quality education system compared to the surrounding public systems. The education in the sense is way more beneficial in terms of academia and skills whether it be through future schooling or engagement with trades/careers. There has been clear attempts to set every student for success. However the process of trying to get into this school can be hectic and overwhelming as everything is based off chance. Along with this comes a secondary fault, being the management of funding where programs such as: the arts, school spirit clubs, after school activities seem to slowly decline due to lack of admin engagement with instructors and funds. Parent: This is a wonderful school. The teachers are second to none. My children have attended for several years and we would not move them anywhere else. The teachers have been very responsive, their education is way ahead of target. The teachers do more with less. They are extremely engaging and creative. My kids love school. There could always be more diversity. The children are all taught to be kind from a young age and socially rewarded for that kindness and this shows in their interactions. The teachers 100% care about each child. They are fun and fresh with the children. The administration has always been responsive. I would not have my children anywhere else. They absolutely deserve their blue star status. My kids hat the lunches and back when we could partake I had to agree not the best, but we just send lunch and are happy there is free food for those who need.... Read 1 review

Middle School Student: Schneckenburger is an amazing school, when I first came to the US from Puerto RicoI went to this school in 2nd Grade I did not know any english and the teachers supported me and helped me learn quickly and in a fun way, with their help I learned english in as quickly as two months. This year was my last year here and now I am going into the 6th Grade, I learned a lot.I love this school, I had very happy experiences and here I recomended 100%!!!-A very happy student.... Alum: When i first found out i was attending George Washington Carver i cried, I didn’t wanna go there where nun of my friends would be so i was kinda upset . The first day of school was really overwhelming for me because i knew a lady i met outside of Carver and i felt like she was picking on me by calling my momma the first 2 days of school . Time went by and we’ve became best friends we came to a realization that what happens outside of school will stay there and built a connection . Carver is the best school i’ve ever attended the way Everyone has open arms for you, the way you build a bond with each adult there is , and jus the school itself they keep it clean so that you can be comfortable and always helping you get your grades up like having extra credit work to boost your grade .... Junior: New Harmony is like no other high school in New Orleans. In our little community, everyone knows each other and support each other. Every student is being prepared for real world life and situations, and as a school we don't focus on an education which we are programmed to pass exams, we focus on our own interests and finding little pieces of ourselves. Every single person in New Harmony, staff or student, express themselves through their style, interests, goals, etc. No one is judged, everyone accepts each other for who they are and want to be.
