Alum: I attended Princeton Charter School from Kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. It was a great experience, and I will really miss the school. Academically, PCS is one of the best elementary/middle schools out there. They have exceptionally strong Math and Language departments. However, the one of the best parts about this school are the teachers. They truly care about the students and push each and every one of them to be successful. There's also a strong community supporting the students. Some of my favorite Charter memories come from the various Picnics, Carnivals, and Field Days we did. Senior: At Hillsborough High School, I received a well-rounded education and had many opportunities outside the classroom to learn and grow. The teachers guided me when I needed assistance and were caring and involved in the well-being of their students. Even during the pandemic, I felt like I was in the classroom because the teachers were well-prepared with virtual learning and were very available to students. I was still able to connect with the Hillsborough High School community and didn’t feel like I was struggling or alone. During non-pandemic times, I was involved in various clubs and activities, which made my overall high school years very enjoyable and added to my learning experience. They also taught me acceptance of others and about being an individual. I would love it if in the future, there could be even more varieties of activities to become involved in because we have so many students that there sometimes isn’t enough room for everyone to participate.... Parent: This is our family’s first year at TEECS. Having transferred from a public school, we really feel the difference. TEECS provides a quality education with a higher academic standard and a more in-depth curriculum so the kids learn a lot more. The teachers are dedicated, offering free tutoring after school and Saturday mornings. Home visits by the teachers was also a nice touch that helped our kids adapt to the school. Moreover, in a K-5 public school, there usually aren’t many extracurricular activities, but at TEECS, K-5 students are offered a wide variety of clubs after school, ranging from chess, robotics/STEM classes to soccer, tennis, Bollywood Dance, Zumba, swimming, and lots more. Senior: I believe my experience at Somerset County Vocational Tech High School was not extraordinary but memorable. My sending district was Montgomery High and it was a big adjustment. I went from having homework, weekly tests and quizzes weekly, and penalties for coming to class late. However at Tech, I feel none of this happens. I knock Tech down a start because of this. I have not learned much coming from Montgomery. However, I rate Tech so high because I believe Tech has prepared me for real life after graduation. The teachers are real and they understand the many challenges their students face. I believe they care for their students achievements whereas in Montgomery, I was just a cow in a pasture, but that pasture was full of cows. Alum: I commuted to South Hunterdon Regional High School for six years as it is also connected with middle school. The reason for me commuting to a school that was almost an hour away from my house was because my parents wanted me to have a better education. Although the school is not very diverse, I had great experiences and education was pretty good. I was accepted to all the colleges I applied to and by the end of my days at South, I had already written a good resume. Parent: My son studies in grade 2 and has been a student here since the school opened. We are happy and satisfied with the level of education and recreational balance that is maintained at CES. All the teachers that my son had and have, have been phenomenal and he goes to school happy and comes back happy. My suggestions on areas of improvement are - (1) To further improve one-2-one communication between parents and class teachers.
