Senior: All the teacher truly care to see success in all students. They are there to help and guild you. Everyone is there to look out for you. I find the counselors amazing as you can always go and talk to them about anything and they are there to help you no matter what. There is also a program known as SafeToTell that many students use and are able to report things they have seen, herd, or gone through and the staff then handles the situation keeping the informers identity hidden. Sports are an amazing way to get to know fellow classmates as well as release stress. Our school is pretty good with supporting our sport teams, it is a way to bond and cheer on fellow students while also representing our school. I hope to see a change in the meals. Due to understaffing meals where not as impressive as before, but hopefully that problem will be resolved next year. Senior: The teachers at Dsst: Byers High School become close friends/family. I love that my teachers cared for each and one of my classmates, and took the time to know us personally. This type of relationship is great, since it makes it easier to ask for help and better advocate for yourself. To add on, there are many options for classes to take in order for each student to be challenged at a reasonable level. There are many activities and extracurriculars to join, and even opportunities to start your own club! Here at Byers inclusivity and respect are highly encouraged, there are many affinity/cultural clubs open to the whole student body. Sophomore: Collegiate Academy is a very small school focused on academics. It is a tight community, so you will make very close relationships with your classmates and teachers. The school puts its students first and puts effort in order to help you keep up with your work. Costs are much more manageable compared to other schools. Senior: Amazing public school that is full of great teachers, staff, and students. Transitioning from middle school to AWest was an eye opener because there’s so many people. There are plenty of opportunities at either classes or school events to create relationships and make great friends. But by far the best part is the rivalry with our opposing school: Ralston Valley High School. We’ve been rivals of the Arvada region for years. Whenever there’s a game you have to go! Senior: Jefferson academy does an excellent job at preparing its students for the future. With top of the line facilities, teachers, and education practices, I have always felt ready for what was next. The education I received there will carry on throughout all of my higher education. Because of "JA" as we call it, I have a work ethic and ability to study that I would not have received at any other school and I will always be grateful for that. Not to mention that the environment at JA, while not perfect, feels like a big family where everyone knows each other and will help each other both in academics, athletics, and the college preparatory journey.... Parent: The administrators, teachers and staff are all excellent and caring. Lincoln serves all ages and abilities with the same very high level of attention. My special needs child receives all the help she needs with patience and encouragement. At the same time, a high-performing child has amazing opportunities and just the right amount of challenge. One of our kids bypassed the traditional high school experience, preferring to attend community college classes after graduating from Lincoln's 8th grade. Senior: DSST: College View High School is a school located in Denver, Colorado next to Loretto Heights. Our school building is also shared by the middle school, which is convenient for the majority of students. Although parking is scarce and our cafeteria is a few walking distances away from our main building, our school has overall shown dedication towards college success by administering organized internship and senior project classes that are college requirements. On top of this, our school is ranked as having the most FAFSA filled applications in our network, the most diverse amount of clubs in our network, and many applications submitted for the seal of biliteracy. Many staff members I met, have said that this school has a perfect and healthy environment that all students can strive in.
