You are allowed to take free college courses for 2 years, and you have access to lots of resources that come with being on a college campus. Senior: I have attended this school for 3 years now and it has been an amazing and unique experience. The office staff is extremely nice and helpful and the teachers are exceptional with their courses. The teachers have taught both honors & AP classes very well and I passed every class and exam. The opportunities were also endless in terms of clubs and service-learning. The environment is welcoming for new students and there is diversity everywhere. Since it was a small school, I was able to develop a relationship with every student in my class. Within a few days of my first year, it felt like family. By junior and senior year, I attended college classes at the university which helped with college readiness. Now, I can transfer credits and save lots of money in college! The only drawback was that our school did not offer arts or sports which is something that I would like to see differently. Junior: I love it here! there are great opportunities that are offered, that you won't find at a "normal" public high school you are district to. There are incredible artists here with amazing talents. The students are very well mannered and there are little disruptions in class if any. There are not as many class options as it is a small school, therefore not many AP class options. The whole school is one big family and I have made lots of personal connections to the teachers, staff, and students here. Senior: My experience at ABEC was all around great. At ABEC the moment you walk in you have a new family that is there for every up and down, just to talk, for support, and even for the extra push. The community at ABEC is one I have never seen before. The teachers and students are very well rounded and are the most determined. High School Senior: My school is unique because it's far from a traditional school. There's a lot more freedom than a regular high school but there is also more responsibility that comes with it. At my school I am able to take college classes that can possibly be transferable when I get to college and will prepare for the college setting. Senior: My experience with this school is very good, I have met and made friends with many of my peers that are true to themselves, and the teachers and workers there are very friendly and caring. Its academics are well above average and the school does very well with teaching you essential skills like applying technical skills with life in the real world to help you prepare for the real world. This school has its flaws and I'm not saying it's a bad thing but the diversity is good I'm not seeing many males from a minority group pursuing medical and even a minority of other groups attending this school. Other than that this school does well with accepting people from a variety of backgrounds. This school needs to offer more extracurricular activities, not make people do medical if they don't want, and instead suggest other ways to succeed and also have more fun events at school since we barely have a day where we all celebrate as a community for most of the day.... Middle School Student: I am a student at Hawfields. The teachers so far, have been amazing and they will go to extents to make sure that you are learning everything that you need to know. I aced my North Carolina Final Exams for social studies because my teacher had made sure that I understood everything, but without cheating. This school has many nice people, and it shows that we are above average. I look forward to school every day because it is an environment that I feel welcome in! Senior: The Middle College at GTCC-Greensboro is overall a great high school to attend. The staff and administrators strive and do their best to make sure all students are on a college level and succeed in all their classes. The guidance counselor is also really great, she answers any and every question you may have to the best of her ability, she helps with the college application process, she provides students with great tools and website links that can help students, and she’s also a great help when applying for scholarships. Senior: Williams is really a good high school in our area. We have a lot of clubs and other programs like IB and AP classes. The teachers have a good relationship with some students. Senior: What do I like about Eastern Alamance High? If I were to be honest here it isn't the most ideal place but they have it put together. The staff and administration try their best to make sure each student passes each grade. While the school needs some serious work from the leaking hallways, to messy bathrooms(from students) it does have it's perks. I have had the pleasure of having some wonderful teachers here, however that is not always the case for some. My teachers have made me feel welcomed but also un-welcomed with their teaching strategies and how they run things in the classroom. I respect each teacher but some don't have the patience for these kids which can cause altercations. This school academically doesn't have a lot to offer unless you get a teacher with a great teaching style. Overall I think it is a great school its evolving every day into new things....
