Senior: Coral academy of science Las Vegas is the best charter school I have ever seen and experienced. Coral academy prayers students for higher and challenging corses. It gets its students ready and prepared for college. If you would rate this school it will be 9.5 out of 10. There is nothing about the Academic stuff that I would like to change. The school is doing fantastic in the academic. However, I would like them on PE class not to take the students out of campus to go and do their activities at the park across the street. I feel that it’s not safe for students. Second thing is that as you all know the school shoring rate across the United States of America is so haigh. Coral academy fence around the school is law. Junior: The teachers are very supportive. Everyone is ver connected with each other and it truly gives you the chance to live your college and high school experience. There are different majors, currently in the nursing program. I get my CNA when I graduate and about 16 college credits. Every program has something different. Junior: The dual enrollment aspect makes its academics awesome. Students are only required to take 3 high school classes, leaving the rest of the time open to schedule college classes. The HS classes themselves are very unique and unlike any class I've had or expected to have, which is a result of the amazing teachers. However, as a result of dual enrollment, the major focus is on academics, so there are little opportunities outside of it. There is really only 1 HS club in addition to electives, although students may join any CSN clubs, but you can do activities at your zoned school. Because you attend college classes at the same time, it's a great way to get a taste of what college may look like once you graduate while having support from HS resources. Since students are in college, they need to have determination and drive because you are responsible for yourself and there is little parent involvement. Senior: I really enjoyed my time at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts! If I could give half-star ratings, I would give it a 4.5, because though the school is great there are still some drawbacks. The environment is very positive and diversity, but the students can be kind of cliquey between majors. The teachers truly care, and they are always available to help students out. The campus is nice in some places, like the newly renovated Performing Arts Center, but other buildings are very old, and it takes forever for things to get fixed. In the Main Building, the upstairs girls bathroom had a broken sink for over 3 months, and the AC and heating systems in the Vocational Hall break annually. Parent: I attribute much of my daughters success to CSN. They each have been accepted into the healthcare programs of their choice and have made the transition to university out of state seamlessly. With the exception of one teacher, they have enjoyed their HS classes. The college itself has excellent professors and prepared them well for university level work. Also, their high GPAs achieved while at CSN have helped them achieve a higher cumulative GPA at their current university where they must maintain a 3.5 to remain in their respective programs. An important bonus to attending CSN that we never considered. Socially, my daughters were able to make friends easily and their peers were goal oriented like them. Although, clubs/sports are lacking my daughters maintained friendships with their friends at their former HS and had the best of both worlds. Senior: I believe that Doral Academy Red Rock is a great school. Its atmosphere, community, and opportunity to build one-to-one relationships with teachers and staff creates an overall safe and encouraging space to grow and flourish as students. I have had a fair share of good and bad experiences with former staff and teachers, but I have generally built good relationships with my peers and teachers/mentors that have helped me rise to success academically and in my extracurriculars. However a thing I would like to see changed, or yet better prioritized, is the funding and emphasis in our Fine Arts Programs. From the very opening of this campus we have had the title of being an ‘Arts-Integrated School’ associated with our name. However, it is noticeable that in recent years our fine arts departments have not been sustainably funded as compared to our sports programs. Junior: As a student of over 7 years at Amplus, I enjoy the learning environment that this school has to offer the students are very friendly and the staff is understanding and helpful. During my years here I have noticed that there is a lack of bullying which is what I love about this school. Some things that I feel could be improved at my school are the variety of classes they offer. The variety is disappointing and I feel like the electives are sparse inn numbers. Senior: VTCTA is a great magnet high school for students perusing a career in cyber security, law enforcement, forensics, ems, 9-1-1 Dispatch, or criminal justice. The passion that the program teachers have opens windows of opportunity for students that are excited to become part of that field. The internships are great for VT students to engage with the community and start having the hands on experience to what can become a prospective career. The rigorous academic plan that teachers have for the students is with the primary purpose of preparing them for college. In addition to internships the school offers a mentor program. This mentor can be precisely from the student’s intended career or similar which well help the student through the year and create a strong bond. Although the school doesn’t have sports and students must play for their zone school. Junior: Nevada State High School is super supportive and provides an opportunity to gain college credits while being a high schooler. Because it’s a dual credit school, the classes students primarily take are at local community colleges like College of Southern Nevada or online at Great Basin College. So Nevada State is mainly a guide for students taking college courses. However, they do have classes called Transitions and Study Skills, which teach practical information such as interview help or scholarship information. The staff at Nevada State Summerlin is also amazing. Ms. McCormick and Ms. Smith always reach out to ensure students are on track to succeed. Even through COVID, they always communicate at least through 3 resources: message, email, or phone. Information about the school is laid out through the student handbook. Senior: I would like for us to have more clubs. Other than that, I love the school! We have social events for us to be oriented with our peers. Our school is dual enrollment, so I am earning college credits while in high school. It is a wonderful opportunity and the staff is welcoming and loving. We have an amazing staff and students.
