Senior: At first my experience was a bit rough. I was online because of covid and so I basically wasn’t able to go to in person school furing freshmen year til March of 2021. It was hard because half of the week was online and half of the week was in person. But sophomore year was when things started again. I was able to go to football games, dances, and other school events. I was in student government as well which meant I got to help out with all of the school events. But there was still restrictions on some these events which made it hard to enjoy. On my birthday, people protested about masks, which I will never forget. Junior year, things started getting back to normal and I got to enjoy the little things and appreciate them even more. I became friends with so many more people, I was still in student government and I was the Junior class vice president. It was so much fun and I really enjoyed junior year. Niche User: This school was so different from all the other schools my friends from high school went to, but in the best ways. There weren't as many cliques or peer pressure situations that I experienced like my other friends did. I was able to make lifelong friends that I knew from kindergarten through high school. Senior: I feel that the school gives an overall comforting and welcoming environment. There are many knowledgeable, engaging teachers; however there are a couple that don’t admit fault or give reasoning for actions. There are many students that feel the same way about the teachers, but not much is done to address it. There is a range of AP classes available, but I would wish that there were wider options. Middle School Student: The school is good but there are weird things going on there. Like one day with my friend we were walking together to the library at school after a club and here comes all of a sudden a golf cart with a custodian in it going really fast and almost ran us over on campus lots of times. Anyways the teachers are really good and teach well. Overall it was a good experience. But be careful because there are vapors there and it can be dangerous if you don’t pay close attention around you. Also the campus is the trashiest campus I have ever seen! Junior: Ponderosa High School is a great high school. I've made countless friends that will see me through a lifetime, I've had teachers that have prepared me for college and life and have given me a strong support system, and I'm confident that Ponderosa cares about its students and wants them to succeed. There is a Wellness Center that does its best to care for students' mental health, a very strong academic program with the opportunity to take AP and Honors classes, and a talented sports program with multiple teams winning league or section titles this past year. Middle School Student: it's cool and the kids are nice. I haven't heard of any cases of bullying here. The lunches are good, they have been free this year what with the pandemic affecting wages, and you can buy treats like ice cream and sodas. My one complaint is that the vending machine NEVER works. Senior: They offer various classes in their academics, including AP classes. I've enjoyed the sports opportunities that are offered and are not all found in other schools. The campus is large and there are many pathways to get to class with many trees. On rare occasion there are student activities for all students to participate in or come and watch. Parent: I love how close the teachers and the students are. It’s a small school so it provides for great community and and support for the students. The communication with the staff is the best we have ever had. I also love how my kids can do dual enrollment at this school and our local community college. Niche User: I love my high school! It's a very small environment, the teachers really care about the students and take the time to get to know you and teach you. I made a lot of friends there, and I love the relationship the faculty has with the students. Some of their classes are lacking in challenge, and though most classes are taught at an AP level, only a few of them are actually AP courses. I would definitely go here again.... Read 18 reviews
