Parent: As a teacher who has taught 12 years in a public school setting, I would have never imagined choosing private school for my sons. After a tough year in kindergarten, my oldest son struggled and didn’t show much academic progress due to large class size. After much thought, I realized that a smaller class size is what he needed to cultivate the best learning environment. After researching all the available private schools here in Southern Frederick County, I was dismayed by the few options nearby. After thoughtful consideration, Barnesville fulfilled all of my expectations as a teacher parent. It provided small class sizes, a great amount of time spent outside, many cross-curricular learning opportunities, and a strong community. The teachers are extra caring and it was evident during our time distance learning. Parent: We decided to enroll our daughter in Bryn Mawr Online High School for the 2022/2023 school year after reviewing a few schools on our list. We are extremely happy with our decision. Bryn Mawr Online offers it all: authentic learning experiences, an enthusiastic and dedicated staff, personalization of the learning, collective peer collaboration, and ongoing two-way communication. Our daughter truly appreciates all of her teachers and loves the flexibility she has in seeking one-on-one help if she needs it. With such a dedicated staff, we are inclined to say that Bryn Mawr Online is moving our daughter from a passive recipient to an active creator of facts and ideas. Junior: GWUOHS is a fantastic school! The teachers are supportive and always willing to help out students. Teachers provide all the materials and help needed for students that want it, but at the same time, they give independence to the student. From personal experience, I have always had attentive and very friendly teachers. The class connects allow for interactive learning and collaboration for classes and clubs. Clubs at GWUOHS are also a lot of fun and are primarily run by students. Students can start their own clubs with a teacher sponsor and structure them how they would like. In creating a club or being a leader in a club, teachers offer as much assistance as students want and are always there for advice and connecting students. GWUOHS also has opportunities to showcase leadership and skills to colleges through honor societies, student government, competitive scholarships, and more.
