Senior: This is an amazing school! No other school gives you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in college curriculum while still being in high school. Students are able to join college clubs and participate in research on the college campus while still being enrolled in high school. The teachers and other staff members are very willing to help you and make your experience here as smooth as possible. You may struggle a bit in ninth grade but after that it will get easier. Senior: Good Academics and teachers. Fun school to be in even when academic wise it gets tough. Most teachers are friendly and ready to help. Dreyfoos encourages involvement of student group interaction therefore there is unity at least between kids inside specific departments. Outside of those departments sometimes kids feel the need have "rivalries" or almost pick on certain majors but if you love your art and make good friends despite the major they are, you can get around it. Admin encourages students to be proud of their school and to take advantage of the opportunities offered. There is a variety of activities during the school year to go to and enjoy like spirit week and open houses for parents. The school provides with lots of information about a variety of topics like scholarships. Boot camps outside of regular school hours to help with college apps are offered. Junior: I have been in this school for 2 years. I rate this a good amount of positivities, however, there are some up and downs situations that require repairs. For example, the stairs need repairs, because students are worried that the stairs may collapse since the stairs are old. We can see holes through them. I know that it is not easy for them to change them but I hope they do their best for it to be changed. Furthermore, the bathrooms are overall neat, mainly the girl's bathroom. Now for the academics, they teach very well for our future. However, I am curious why we do not learn about financial and real-life situations after high school. Senior: SRHS offers many opportunities for high education. The teachers are often very good at their job and the secretaries are very helpful. Spanish River also offers a variety of classes with a diverse selection of art, math, and science courses. There is a lot of competition at Spanish River as most of the students are striving for excellence. The way students classes are selected is a corroboration between them and their counselors; counselors work closely with the students to plan their future. In Spanish River students are expected to dictate their own future and relying on your counselor to make decisions for you will often restrict you from achieving your goals. Spanish River's cafeteria is subpar, the food is often stale. Spanish River's sport programs are relatively good; the swim team and girls soccer and basketball teams are the highlight. Parent: It's an A+mazing school where teachers are taking their time with each and every student, and making sure that every student is shining to his/her maximum in each of the subjects. The curriculum is great. Music class is a magnet for my kids, and after their choir class my kids come home so happy every time and are inspired to sing at home beautifully! Art class is very creative, Spanish is fun, Mandarin Chinese is fascinating and they hear lots of stories about China and Asia there, too. Middle School Student: Bak will be a great school for you if you love team spirit, the arts and having a school family. I made so many friends here and I definitely was given independence in my classes and was able to explore things outside my art area. Although the academics are just as good as the arts, the teachers aren't always in-depth and require you to teach yourself some of the curriculum. There is also a strong separation between each major and although I made friends with other majors, each typically sticks to their own. Senior: Pros: The resources and networking are top-tier. There are teachers that have industry connections in film and acting. If you want to become a singer, gstar has a working recording studio. There are free programs for artists. For actors, you can take classes, audition for shows, and volunteer for student films while being taught by accredited actors(one is a trained opera singer who teaches vocals). There are many resources in the film department with the industry teachers. Students work on industry projects. G-star allows students to create events. Many teachers are fun. IB is tight-knit and fun. Lots of funny things happen. Great Academics. Cons: This school sadly needs more funding/renovations to support the kids. Some teachers do have an attitude or aren't good at teaching. The participation rate of the students is low. Food from the district sucks. Admins don't do much if there's an issue.
