Parent: All 3 of my children have had the privileged of starting their academic life in this school. The teachers and staff are amazing - helpful, kind, smart, resourceful, creative and loving. They respond so positively to not only their student but the parents as well. Because the student-to-teacher ratio is low, there is more individualized learning opportunities. Those students that need more guidance AND those that need more academic challenges are both given equal attention. The PTO is open and inviting, making new families feel like they have always been there. We wish that they could have been a K-12! If you have the opportunity to send your kids here, take it.... Junior: I have been at School Lane Charter School since I was in 2nd grade and I am not a junior in high school. I commend School Lane for always seeking ways to better the experience of students. You can see that each year is a year to reflect on the past which I like. The high school IB Campus is very small so this gives teachers the ability to get to know their students and understand what the best environment will be to help them succeed academically. The academic portion is very rigorous and this is taught school wide. REFLECTING is a big thing at school lane which is great because how are you gonna grow without reflection? I wish that the voices of students were heard more though. I wish that more opportunities were given to students to grow socially. I feel that many students feel that their voices aren't heard. Junior: As a Courant student as BCIT west, I believe that bcit has the best and the best leadership programs to help student and also their society. The classes are great, majority of the teachers there try’s to understand us the students as individuals. Also the same as for guidance counselor’s. They try to help you in any and every way they can, weather you need personal Tutoring or motivation in other to get through the year, they are just always there in the time of need.... Senior: Overall I personally have had a good experience with my school. Just like any other ordinary high school you are figuring yourself out through out the years and finding out whats best for you to give out to this world. The school has a good variety of career programs, many teachers have good connections or amazing suggestions for future references. Teachers here are very understanding and main goal is for students to see all the good things they are capable of. As a senior there is a co-op option, either in or out of school. Which for anyone that doesn't know BCSS is a school for individuals with Mental or Psychical Disabilities. Alum: Vince, Mark, Chris , Joe, Christen, And Susan made the largest impact of my life. I was a little lost, I think all of us were when we got in. Getting in was the easy part. Having our future put in the palm of our own hands was the challenge we had to accept. Yes we were young, and some of us had second shots at it, but we didn’t know that.
