Junior: My experience here was absolutely fantastic!! If you are on the fence at all about applying, definitely give it a shot. We have the best math, science, english, and social studies programs in the city, and they aren’t going anywhere soon. The football is kind of lacking, but our swimming, water polo, volleyball, and track/XC teams are stupendous. As with most schools in AISD we don’t have all the resources in the world because of recapture and the state, but we definitely make the most of what we have, the food is better than I expected for a high school, and our facilities are getting better year on year. Our college counselors (another perk of LASA) are a highlight of the school and help everyone (juniors and seniors) with college applications. Also, I cannot speak more highly of the elective diversity that we have. We have something for everyone, and I suggest looking through the course guide on the website. Freshman: When I first entered this school, it was the beginning of the academic year and COVID restrictions were still high. Still, it meant no more online meetings. This school welcomed me with open arms and continues to support me and other students for extracurricular activities. A four-hour school, this school supports students who partake in sports such as figure-skating and hockey, which take up most of a student's time. The teachers care for their students, and bullying is taken very seriously. The only thing I would add is extracurricular. This school was built for students with extracurricular activities yet doesn't have any sports teams. Another thing is, we don't have lunch or lockers like a typical american high school does. It is just a quirk this school has. It prepares students for colleges, and has education from Kindergarten all the way to 12th grade. Senior: The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders really lives up to its mission statement. Having the chance to attend the school for up to 6 years, the students really create a strong relationship with staff and faculty! From 6th to 11th grade, girls are required to take field trips to colleges where they're able to feel what it's like being on a college campus. Parent: Casis is an amazing school for children. The staff members truly care about the students and treat them as if they are their own child. The Administration is welcoming and seem to really love leading the school community. They really engage the students and celebrate their accomplishments through Casis Courgar P.R.I.D.E. Fridays. The students come to the office to show Admin their celebrations for the week. They are given a Casis pencil, a Treasure Tower token to get a special treat then head back to class with their certificate. Students love this special recognition! It’s also amazing that the Administration takes special time to talk to the students about their accomplishments. Honestly they don’t just do this one day a week! It happens daily in the halls. Senior: Austin high is a place where you can find a variety of teachers and students. I have had some of the most committed and passionate teachers, and some on the other side. School spirit and sports vary, it’s what you make of it. The different academy programs also offer enriching projects and experiences that enhance learning. The programs make this large school feel smaller and more personal. I have enjoyed my time at AHS so much! Sophomore: I've attended Harmony Science Academy - Pflugerville since the sixth grade, and I've built many great memories here. Being an African American female with a passion for the sciences, Harmony was an excellent fit for me with its heavy emphasis on STEM. I have been involved in many of its STEM and leadership clubs (e.g., Science Olympiad, HOSA, NHS/NJHS, and Science Fair) and I've taken many of the courses offered (e.g. Microbiology, Medical Terminology, Computer Science, etc.) Harmony offers several OnRamps UT, AP, and dual credit courses (with dual credit, you are able to obtain an associate's degree by the time of graduation), which I have utilized abundantly. In addition, I have felt secure in its extremely racially diverse student body. The teachers deeply care about students' success. Despite its exceptionalism in STEM, its sports and fine arts categories are admittedly below average. Niche User: This school is very pleasing. There is acceptable behavior and learning here, and the students are also learning a grade ahead of their actual grade. The school also has great fundraisers such as pennies for peace(Africa's schools) and walk for water (clean water). Some Donors pay for the field trips are fairs/carnivals. Parent: I can’t say enough about Harmony! We found this school on a whim as we were trying to find a school that supported science in the height of COVID. We initially came because the majority of students were wearing masks vs. our old school where nobody did. It was truly meant to be. The teachers and staff are amazing. They care so much for the children and take character very seriously. My kids are learning so many amazing things in comparison to their old school and there is always opportunities for tutoring, etc. If they need help. I love the diversity that is reflected as well. Parent: My children have attended Harmony Endeavor for 2 years and this is our 3rd year. Absolutely best decision as parents we made. We drive 35 minutes each way. and it’s worth it. Supportive teachers and staff allows my children to learn and be challenged to their full potential. Students can be active in school and after school with clubs. Parent: My son started kindergarten here and we’ve been very happy for two years, only switching schools because we had to move three hours away. NYOS has a super loving environment and we’ve never had any issues with bullying whatsoever. I’ve also been amazed at the level of academics my son has had since the beginning. He loves learning and going to NYOS: the teachers are loving and patient, and every single one of them will know your child’s name. Senior: My Experience with this school is good but not that good , some of the good things about this school is how it's all technology base, instead of textbooks we are provided with an Ipad to use in the school so you don't have to bring a lot in your backpack but you may need to bring some notebooks in some of the classes that you might have, it's also a small school filled about less than 200 students so it's great small school and very easy to get around than a large high school, another thing is that there are some days on Fridays where we have game night and its when kids spend the rest of the after school play games on some consoles that the school have,VR and board games , they also do themes on game night depending if theres a holiday or have some special days. Some of the issues I have with the school is there are not that much after school activities or have sports teams as well, and they lack the knowledge of applying and learning for college in the last minute for seniors.... Alum: I absolutely love Davis Elementary. It was the fist elementary school I attended where the teachers cared about their students' lives and education. The teachers helped any struggling students every way they could and rewarded those who achieved success. The parents were very involved and helped with many school events. Parent: Valor has been an incredible gift to our family. The teachers are joyful and attentive. The leadership and their vision for educating the whole person and cultivating wisdom and virtue in the students is inspiring. I love that they're reading quality literature and are being encouraged to think critically and engage in meaningful conversation. I'm amazed at the poems our kids want to recite for us over dinner. The math curriculum is excellent. I wish I had been taught math this way! There is a quiet joy in the hallway, where kids feel safe, nurtured, and fully present. I love that our older kids and younger kids can all be at the same school together and see each other often on campus. After trying several different schools, we have finally found our home! Sophomore: Overall, the school is good. Depending on your major, classes can be extremely challenging and not fun if you get stuck with a terrible professor.
