Parent: My daughter has shown drastic improvement from Pre-K to Kindergarten. She is reading above other kids her age that aren't in Stamford Charter School. My brother is also another student there and he scored a perfect score on the state test this past spring. The faculty is amazing and always supportive. Senior: Center for Global Studies is the very definition of a school that has a family-like community. Everyone has the chance to be involved in everything, and the air in the halls is always positive. Everyone I've met is and from day 1, always was, kind as welcoming--both faculty and students. Finally, the emphasis on learning in a school that puts a global spin on everything, with the reminders everywhere you go and in everything do that you are not the center of the world but instead a member of the human race who should work to understand and celebrate both others and yourself....is very meaningful. Senior: There wasn’t another school I wanted to go and I was excited to come here, but this school is definitely not perfect. My biggest complaints are with administration and teachers. The administration here is laughable. They don’t do much and everyone knows it. I wish they cared more and were better at there jobs but it doesn’t seem like they’ll be changing anytime soon. Also, some of the teachers here are laughable as well. Some are creepy, have had multiple strikes on their file for various concerning reasons, don’t know how to teach, or just generally don’t like kids. Despite that, there are a couple of teachers who are really passionate about their job and make learning fun! All in all, I’m still glad I went here but there were things I would change.... Senior: I transferred to Westhill High as a junior and at first, the transition was slightly rocky because I am naturally a very introverted person, but the people are very welcoming and outgoing. The school is very diverse which was something that I appreciated and embraced as a minority of a diverse background. My friends come from all walks of life and have different stories to tell. Junior: Stamford High School is a very diverse amazing school that provides students with many opportunities and a great education in general. This school has plenty of amazing extracurriculars and sports that are open to everyone and give students the amazing opportunity to be able to play. The academics of this school are good, most teachers are great and make sure their students are doing well in their class and make sure that their class understand what is being taught. The environment of this school could be better, however, overall the school is great and always clean. My personal experience with Stamford High is great! I've had such an amazing time in time here and feel that this school really does everything possible to make sure that their students feel safe and comfortable and that is something that many schools lack, howevers Stamford does not. Senior: As a senior who's gone through the whole P-TECH Program including over a dozen dual enrollment classes at Norwalk Community College and the IBM internship, I can say that P-TECH has certainly given me lots of valuable opportunities that I wouldn't have otherwise had as a full-time Norwalk High student. Students like me can gain the confidence that comes with succeeding in difficult college classes and working for a large company all before they graduate high school. However, given that P-TECH is currently in the process of separating itself from Norwalk High, there are lots of controversies and hurt feelings on all sides. I can't see this getting much better in the near future since P-TECH always seems to be looking for ways to further sever whatever connections it may have to Norwalk High regardless of the implications.... Parent: Both of my children attended Side by Side, my eldest is now in high school but my daughter is still attending. The teachers are amazing. I can’t say enough about the school. I love the small atmosphere and it is very much like a family. The teachers are genuinely interested in the students and go above and beyond to ensure their success even after the graduate. Senior: Personally, I love how small of a school it is. It almost feels like a family more than a school. I do believe the administration can do better to interact with the kids but overall it is a good school. Any child who has their future set up would love to explore the trade portion of the school.
