Senior: The teachers at Dsst: Byers High School become close friends/family. I love that my teachers cared for each and one of my classmates, and took the time to know us personally. This type of relationship is great, since it makes it easier to ask for help and better advocate for yourself. To add on, there are many options for classes to take in order for each student to be challenged at a reasonable level. There are many activities and extracurriculars to join, and even opportunities to start your own club! Here at Byers inclusivity and respect are highly encouraged, there are many affinity/cultural clubs open to the whole student body. Alum: The Denver Center for International Studies served me very well over the course of my five years as a student there. I participated in both the middle and high school programs and have been adequately prepared for my life outside of high school. The supplementary classes were deeply enriching and fostered critical thinking and writing skills. The school culture of DCIS is a tight-knit community with teachers that care about students as young adults, not just students. Student voice and leadership is also a key part of the DCIS paradigm, which I was involved in throughout my time at the school. While the school suffers from a lack of funding, which impacts some opportunities and facilities, I am extremely grateful for the time I spent at DCIS. Parent: The Girls Athletic Leadership School is amazing place! Middle school is such a pivot point for girls, and GALS provides their students with everything they need to succeed, to build solid friendship, and to value their individuality. The academics are rigorous, but the GALS series is the secret sauce. It's a three year course designed to make students "more aware of their individual and community identity, the skills to navigate through challenges and decisions successfully, and empowerment to drive them." Junior: Personally, I am very satisfied as a student here at KNDLA. The teachers are amazing, who help the students out with anything, big or small. The students there are also very helpful, organized and gratifying. There are countless things that I could say about this amazing high school, and its people. The school culture is wonderful and its community is very diverse. Academically speaking, this school awards students with the highest honors for academically exceeding expectations. Senior: Denver School of Innovation and Sustainable Design changed my life, for the good. It provided me with a multitude of resources that helped me prepare for college. I graduated with three college credits; more than most students I know who went to a traditional high school. The teachers build relationships with every student that walks in their classroom. I enjoyed every single one of my classes. Although the school doesn’t provide many extracurricular activities it makes up for it by having such an amazing environment. Senior: My experience was Victory Prep Academy was one I will remember for the rest of my life! The teachers as well as the students are the most kind and understanding people. There was never a time I felt disrespected or unsafe. Everyone in that building is like a family and there isn't another high school I would have preferred to go to. Although there isn't a variety of sports and outside activities at VPA, I did my part and went to all the games I was able to show my school spirit that way. The best part about my high school is that its a very small school and I was surrounded by classmates I have known since first grade. Senior: DSST: College View High School is a school located in Denver, Colorado next to Loretto Heights. Our school building is also shared by the middle school, which is convenient for the majority of students. Although parking is scarce and our cafeteria is a few walking distances away from our main building, our school has overall shown dedication towards college success by administering organized internship and senior project classes that are college requirements. On top of this, our school is ranked as having the most FAFSA filled applications in our network, the most diverse amount of clubs in our network, and many applications submitted for the seal of biliteracy. Many staff members I met, have said that this school has a perfect and healthy environment that all students can strive in. Senior: I think Kipp is a great school, since freshman year they prepare you with everything you need to know about college.
