Senior: The school provides great opportunities for the people who really take advantage of them. People who are able to get ahead and take college classes while in high school can graduate with many college credits. However, there are many kids who get stuck and struggle to come up with enough credits to graduate. The school is not built for everyone. Also, the administration does not always support the kids in all their needs. Senior: Arts & College Preparatory Academy is a great environment for finding who you are and your art related interest. The teachers are insanely amazing! Meeting friends is super easy because everyone is so welcoming. There are many diverse art classes, as well as strong academic classes as well. If you ever need school help or personal life help there is always someone there. Wether that is a student, teacher, administrator, or even people who work at the front desk! Alum: Columbus Alternative High School (CAHS) changed my life forever. I entered CAHS in 2013 as a intercity student who never saw to much of a future for myself. Although, by the time I graduated CAHS in 2017 I expected nothing less than excellence from myself. They offer AP and IB classes to their students for free which allowed me to earn college credits right at my own high school. CAHS was constantly taking into consideration that there are students from all over the district and teaching on a very personalized basis. The teachers and administrators put learning first and do everything they can to help you achieve your goals including college application workshops. Parent: My child has attended CPA from kindergarten, currently in 4th grade. Overall I really like the school, I feel comfortable with my child attending and being safe. They do a great job at trying to make learning fun and interesting for the students, especially when it comes time for state testing. Senior: After spending majortiy of High School at home due to covid, I am delighted to say my experience at Columbus Downtown High School (CDHS) has been a fresh and eye-opening experience. It has been a dream to attend CDHS to further my skills in web development and IT, and I’m glad I managed to do just that. Even though the curriculum and classes themselves could have been more challenging academically, I’ve grown and learned a lot. The CDHS experience has been lovely for me as a new student. I didn’t expect to befriend as many classmates and teachers as I have. I also didn’t expect to join a book club, bonding through blankets club, or to be a part of an all-girls group. I’m looking forward to returning to CDHS as a senior. As a result of having to honestly take control of my future all on my own by choice I will graduate with a diploma and great friends and even greater connections. Niche User: It was amazing to me. There were more diverse students there than any other school where I experienced. The school may not had sports or music programs, however, they do lots of art programs and sometimes theater. The teachers were so good to me and treated me very well and that's when I learned that I was safe there. It was like another home to me. That school will always be a part of me for the rest of my life! I wouldn't know how to get where I am now, if it wasn't for those magnificent teachers. Senior: Horizon science academy was not the type of school I thought I would end up in when I moved from New York City to Ohio. To begin with, the school had so much diversity, people from China, East Africa, West Africa, Asia, Cuba,etc. Overall, this school has amazing staff members who support the students, a great big community that sticks together, and many wonderful opportunities when it comes to education, getting ahead for your future, and extracurricular activities. One thing that does need to be changed is the location of the school. The building itself was a furniture store prior to becoming a school.
