Senior: The academic program truly helps students be prepared for college. As part of the School of Science and Engineering's accelerated math track, I took Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB as part of a double-block schedule during my freshman year. I also took SuperLab, a unique science track offered during Junior Year consisting of AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Chemistry, and a hands-on Lab & Experimental Design course. The teachers are approachable and very dedicated to their students' education. Almost all of the teachers offer tutoring hours before and/or after school and sponsor extracurricular activities. In addition, the school culture is unique compared to most other schools. Students genuinely care about their learning and academic opportunities, so this produces a cooperative and academics-driven culture. Senior: The four years at this school I have spent have taught me numerous valuable life lessons. Handing down my advice and experience in a high school could potentially help quite a number of incoming students/freshmen but the thing is, everyone will have a different high-school experience. My experience involved commitment, strength, determination, and faith, which will apply to many students bound for this school. My experience at Lebanon Trail was nothing more than exciting, engaging, and heart-warming. Not everything in high school is perfect, sure there were a few things I experienced that changed my view but those types of situations will happen in anywhere you go to gain an education. The teachers at this school were positive, heart-warming and were more than ready to go out of their way to help a student. Out of everything, my four years spent there, and all of the football games I attended, I can say one thing and that is, the time spent here has made me into the person I am today.... Junior: I really like Booker T., and I think it's a great school to go to! One thing about it is that before my time here, I heard a lot of people telling me things like "We're all one big happy family", and maybe people say that about every school, but it is not the experience I'm having. It's still a great school though, and it pushed me to challenge myself in a lot of new ways, both in my arts and academics. I just want to make sure no one incoming has super unrealistic expectations- it's not perfect, and it can be super frustrating, especially as there's a lack of communication about important things at pretty much every level. Junior: I have been an Uplift North Hills Preparatory student since kindergarten in 2012. Now, as a high school junior, I've been able to see my school evolve and grow throughout the years. While I do think that parent involvement and some aspects of connection in school have diminished over time, I can confidently say that I attend a great school. The academics are highly rigorous, and our teachers do an excellent job of motivating their students to strive to learn. One thing that I love most about North Hills is the student body culture. Our school is highly diverse, and practicing kindness and acceptance is central to our identity. Our school has many cultural traditions that are special to the student body. Senior: I have been with Harmony Science Academy since I was in kindergarten and needless to say it has been a wonderful experience. I have gotten so many opportunities and have met so many cool people throughout my years spend here. I have had the most hands-on interactive teachers, and they never fail to make time for you when you are struggling in their class. I have also made such personal relationships with many of my teachers and faculty . It really does feel like we are a huge family. I would like to see better clubs and sporting opportunities such as football, baseball, perhaps even swimming at harmony because we do lack that a little bit. As well as better food conditions, because the food hasn't really ever been the best quality for us students. Alum: Further, RCHS does not have orchestra or band available to the students. Lunches are not free (unless if you qualify for free or reduced lunch) and attendance is by every 30 minutes so it's important to not miss classes. You do not pay for anything for RCHS including textbooks, a laptop for senior year, and college classes. If you’re like me, then you won't like the high school classes because they're more developmental than educational, but you will like the capstone program there if you chooses a topic you enjoy. You will be required to write a 15-17 page capstone research paper with at least 10 varied sources and complete at least 60 service learning hours (15 per semester). For the paper, they will give you a structure and help with writing it. You will also be required to be at Richland from 8am to 5pm, but if you doesn't have any classes you can sneakily leave early. Senior: The reason I loved going to Richardson Highschool is that there is so much diversity. You meet all kinds of people because the courses and pathways they offer range everywhere from performing arts, STEM, Law, and so many more. This really prepares you for college where there will be even more people and even more pathways to choose from. Another reason I loved Richardson was because of the different levels of education they offered for the same course. For example, when deciding what Pre-Calculus class I wanted to take, I could decide between AP, Pre-AP, or On-level. They didn't have a set course schedule I had to stick to. If there was anything I would change about Richardson High School it might be the way they fund the different programs. Some programs seemed like they were getting much more funding than others. Sophomore: I’m a sophomore at the School of Health Professions. So far I have taken 3 duel credit courses: Intro to Health Professions, General Health Prof Management, and Wellness and Health Promotion. I’m also taking Medical Terminology. These classes have given me insight of the variety of careers available in healthcare. Juniors take pharmacology and pathophysiology. Also, they get to start their clusters(you earn certification) and will have an internship. There are 5 total clusters: Clinical Medical Assistance, Dental Assistance, Patient Care Technician, Medical Laboratory, and Physical Therapy/Sport Medicine(they go together). In addition there are many interesting clubs. I am a member of HOSA. Members of HOSA can compete in events related to certain general or health skills (similar to UIL). This is a magnet school so you’re surrounded by people that desire to succeed in their studies. And we can’t forget the amazing skyline views the school provides of the whole city of Dallas.... Alum: I loved my experience at Townview's ESSM because of the caring cluster teachers we had. Even though our senior year was only online due to covid, our teachers did everything possible to make our year easier with college help and planning. At this school, we were able to intern at locations that correlate with the field we were interested in such as elementary schools, daycare centers, community assistance organizations, shelters, and many more incredible opportunities that vary throughout the education and social services fields. I loved going to my cluster classes because of how beneficial the things that we were learning in the classes were. In one of our cluster classes, we learned so many cool and beneficial things such as money management, how to do our taxes, child development, pregnancy, and so much more.
