Senior: Pacific Coast is an independent study high school. Most of the classes are taken online, but some of the classes are either on-campus or hybrid. PCHS offers a huge amount of flexibility—not being tied to campus all day, every day means that students are provided time to develop interests, whether it be for recreation or academia. PCHS also has great people. Unique students, attracted by PCHS’ flexibility, bring diversity. The student body includes athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs. In addition to the student population, the school has great faculty. Overall, the teachers genuinely care for their students. They always, always make themselves available via email, phone, or campus visits when students are in need of help. Since PCHS is primarily online-based, the school’s campus space is very limited. Senior: Samueli Academy is a very unique school that teaches students the fundamentals of either design or engineering and gives them unique experiences, such as collaborations with companies such as the Anaheim Ducks and Vans. The staff knows every student and does not hesitate to connect with each and every one of them. This school thoroughly prepares students for college and life after high school. In fact, having an internship is a graduation requirement. Even after graduation, the school stays in contact with alumni, and provides events and support for them. Senior: I have been attending MSASA for 5 years now. It has been an amazing journey, I have meet new friends and lost some along the way. Since I have been assisting that school for a while I have seen changes too. I have witnessed how the school has grown physically and academically. When I started attending MSASA it was just from 7th grade to 12th but when we moved location it was from k-12. I enjoyed that they included all grades especially in the community we were in. MSASA's goal was always to put the students and there community first and that is what they have been doing. They are many positive thing about MSASA but something that I would like to change is to give the upper grades like high school more attention instead on focusing more on elementary.... Senior: During my high school years at Savanna, I could tell that there was definite need for improvement in every area. In the recent years, the teachers and learning attitude has declined, with many teachers being indifferent if students understand the material. Very few teachers care about the students outside of academics and promote extra curriculars. The students and teachers are very diverse, which gives into many new and unique clubs that are present at the school. Certain counselors and administration are very enthusiastic about college but only to those that seek it out on their own. However, many school events are lacking. Senior: Not the typical high school experience that's for sure! Nothing like the musical or movies but, it felt quite like home. Friendly staff, interesting peers. As an artist though, I wish there were more opportunities in ways I could have expressed myself. I enjoyed my 4 years here and honestly, I don't think I can imagine myself anywhere else. Even if we spent 2 years in quarantine. Lots of ups and downs, but the memories and friends made are definitely memorable. I have learned a lot about my culture as well, a big breath of fresh air. This school has prepared me for college in ways I didn't know were possible. Grateful for the opportunity, I can now attend my dream school! Alum: This is one of the most caring schools I have ever attended. The atmosphere is welcoming and the surrounding neighborhoods are safe. The school every year attempts to be more inclusive and attempts to provide more opportunities each year. The classes offered are taught by great instructors who want to get you into college. Senior: The school is a very safe and exciting place to learn. The campus population is fairly small; therefore, everyone is able to get to know each other. The class room ratios are about fifteen students per teacher which is great because the teacher is able to get to know every student and help them individually with the material. The staff here are very nice and approachable. Niche User: I heard that this school was not a good school to go to. The reality is different. The reason why is because since the moment I got to that school I was nervous because what people use to say about that school. Within the first month I felt that the environment of the school is really great. I actually don't know what school makes you feel safe and accepted by the staff and the students. I couldn't ask for more at that school that what I got at the time I was there. The thing is that all teachers push you to doing the best you can which that is what a school needs. In the whole time I was there it was such a great experience. I love the way the staff encourage you to doing better. There are just not enough words to describe how the school experience....
