Alum: In sum, my high school experience was average, taking into consideration that everyone my age went through the pandemic. Many of my teachers dealt with it in stride and began using technology efficiently, though it was clear some teachers did not understand their training. My peers were generally respectful and kind though once you establish who you are friends with at Ballard it isn't easy to break into new groups. Junior: Overall, Cleveland has a very close and connected community. The teachers and staff members are very caring and genuinely interested in seeing students succeed. Furthermore, the students at Cleveland are very hardworking and take charge of their actions and grades. We are very involved in our community and ensure everyone is treated fairly and with respect. Senior: My experience at summit sierra could be described in 1 word, interesting. Going to this school I've learned alot about myself, gained new interests, learned about different cultures and beliefs, and met alot of interesting people. The school has helped me grow not only academically but also socially. Even though i was always a social person before going to Summit I would alot of times be scared to try and talk to someone, especially if I didn't know them well. With being at Summit Sierra they have little events where they would pair us up with different people we dont usually talk to and talk about our different interests and hobbies to help make us all not just stay in one group of friends and branch out. The staff and teachers are always willing to help us even when there busy and try and completely help us understand the work we are doing. Junior: Lincoln High School is relatively new, but seems to have gained a strong footing. People are generally kind and respectful. The school is over-enrolled this year, so it is crowded, but classes are still about as large as any other Seattle Public School. Lincoln is not very diverse at all. The school is mostly white some mixed and Asian kids. I think this is largely due to the demographics of the neighborhood given that Lincoln is a neighborhood school. Teachers are pretty good, especially if you take AP classes. They seem to be about the same as other Seattle High Schools if not better, but not quite as rigorous as the private schools in the area. Lincoln is a project based school, which means that there are less finals and more projects. At the end of the year we exhibit our projects, and it is fun to see what other students have been working on. The main negative thing I have to say about Lincoln is that the counseling staff is small and often too overwhelmed to be helpful.... Read 17 reviews

Senior: Nova High school is one of the best high schools I have gone to because of the classes, being accepted there, having great friends, and the structure of the school and how it works. The classes are different because you talk more about climate change, justice and racial based classes and also LGBTQ+ classes and that makes the students feel more accepted. We use pronouns at are school meaning that if you want to change your gender we will accept that 100% and support you. My friends are amazing there since they understand what I have gone through and my struggles and we have great deep conversations about real life issues. All my friends understand when I have a bad day and support me no matter what. Are school runs similar to a college we have three classes per day and there longer. Monday and Wednesday classes are the same and Tuesday and Thursday classes are the same. On friday it switches off between those days of classes. Senior: Attending Middle college high school I have not only increased my math skills but I also got to know more about myself. At middle college they allow students the freedom to choose the outcome of their education which helps students in the near future once they get to college. On top of that the teachers and staff are amazing! They want to see students thrive and will do whatever it takes to make sure that students succeeds even if that means staying late after school to help that student or creating an individualized program for that student. Parent: Our 6th grader loves Licton Springs. It's small, scrappy, prioritizes equity, justice, individualized learning for kids. The teachers and staff are kind, flexible, engaging. Classes are longer & somewhat experiential; kids take fewer at a time=enough time to get into subjects instead of switching every 40 min. They want to maintain spirit of school--Native-aware, safe, accepting, resource for kids who aren't thriving elsewhere, have non-typical life situations, etc. Webster building is nice but far west location makes it hard to keep up student #s and demographics (compared to being more centrally located=Kids come from all over. They were pushed out of previous location by SPS prioritizing wealthier/louder families at CES & RESMS). We love that Licton Springs champions justice and nurtures differences—ethnic, socioeconomic, neuro, gender, romantic preference, ability, racial, religious, cultural, etc. I wish we had sent our kid here since kindergarten!!...
