Senior: The teachers at Dsst: Byers High School become close friends/family. I love that my teachers cared for each and one of my classmates, and took the time to know us personally. This type of relationship is great, since it makes it easier to ask for help and better advocate for yourself. To add on, there are many options for classes to take in order for each student to be challenged at a reasonable level. There are many activities and extracurriculars to join, and even opportunities to start your own club! Here at Byers inclusivity and respect are highly encouraged, there are many affinity/cultural clubs open to the whole student body. Alum: Excellent school, faculty, and class curriculums. Lots of opportunity for involvement, such as sports, intramurals, music programs, and after school clubs. One of the few middle schools that still has silent reading as a required class, which is great. The faculty is very experienced and helpful with the challenging curriculum. Alum: I loved attending South High School! The environment is filled with school spirit, kind people, and passionate teachers! There are students from all over the world, speaking many different languages, practicing many different religions, and coming from many different backgrounds and cultures! The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I felt as though student voices were not heard by some of the adults making decisions on the school board and within the school. Sophomore: I actually went to Colorado Early Colleges Inverness but they had no option for that campus. I really enjoyed going to high school there. The student body is tiny but I like that it gives you an opportunity to know all of the students a little bit. The faculty is fantastic! Best of all, the whole purpose of the school is to graduate all of their students with Associates degrees. We can take college classes on campus or we can take them directly from Arapahoe Community College. This is an amazing opportunity for students who will pursue a degree after high school.... Parent: The 2020 school year was the most challenging by far because of district wide school closures and my children having to learn from home. Without the support of the wonderful Cory Elementary staff and community I don’t think we would have persevered. Even with months of online learning and ongoing changes my children still thrived. My children are now beyond thrilled to be back in the classroom where they belong and love the in-person collaboration with their peers and teachers. Parent: The Girls Athletic Leadership School is amazing place! Middle school is such a pivot point for girls, and GALS provides their students with everything they need to succeed, to build solid friendship, and to value their individuality. The academics are rigorous, but the GALS series is the secret sauce. It's a three year course designed to make students "more aware of their individual and community identity, the skills to navigate through challenges and decisions successfully, and empowerment to drive them." Senior: Denver School of Innovation and Sustainable Design changed my life, for the good. It provided me with a multitude of resources that helped me prepare for college. I graduated with three college credits; more than most students I know who went to a traditional high school. The teachers build relationships with every student that walks in their classroom. I enjoyed every single one of my classes. Although the school doesn’t provide many extracurricular activities it makes up for it by having such an amazing environment. Senior: DSST: College View High School is a school located in Denver, Colorado next to Loretto Heights. Our school building is also shared by the middle school, which is convenient for the majority of students. Although parking is scarce and our cafeteria is a few walking distances away from our main building, our school has overall shown dedication towards college success by administering organized internship and senior project classes that are college requirements. On top of this, our school is ranked as having the most FAFSA filled applications in our network, the most diverse amount of clubs in our network, and many applications submitted for the seal of biliteracy. Many staff members I met, have said that this school has a perfect and healthy environment that all students can strive in. Alum: DSST: Cole is a school not only that teaches its students the importance of teamwork, communication, and prepares them for college; it is also a school that ensures that you get the most opportunities for programs offered outside of the school, SAT prep, and even aids in applying to college and ensuring that you get as many scholarships as possible in order to pay as little as possibly for any and all colleges. They helped me develop skills that not only made be a better student, but a better person as well. Each teacher wants what’s best for their students and they work even outside of the classroom to ensure that each student has an understanding of the material that is being taught. They may seem strict with their required office hours (when students need it) but they truly want each student to have as many opportunities as possible.
