Senior: What I like most about attending Paxon is the challenge that my classes present. The floor level of these subjects is fairly high. Keeping up the pace week after week can be pretty demanding, yet it is really all worthwhile. That moment when you know you have made the grade is extremely gratifying! As exhilarating as it is to win this learning game, the homework load can feel overwhelming at times. Junior: Douglas Anderson was probably the best years of my high school experience. I was new to the state when I first started attending and it felt like a really good start to my time there. The teachers there are versatile with their teaching, and the kids are incredibly unique and different. DA brought out the creative side of me and allowed me to express myself with things from my outfits, to my school activities and work. Students will be students and hate on the school while their in it, but compared to the schools in the area, it was pretty great. Take this rating lightly! Parent: My daughter is in her first year of attending RCSA and is in the 8th grade. My wife and I have been extremely pleased with the entire experience including the quality of the teachers, the leadership provided by the administration, and the opportunities for our daughter to participate in advanced classes such as honors biology and geometry. The level of communication from the teachers as well as the school is excellent with weekly RCSA newsletters and weekly progress reports regarding our daughters academic progress. Most importantly we value the culture that is deeply embedded within and throughout the entire RCSA community. Senior: I like the majority of the staff, there are many educators that genuinely want to see their students succeed and form connections with them. While there are some teachers who aren't amazing Fltcher still maintaons a 97% graduation rate and and 'A' school status. There has been a recent increase in safety procedures which makes the environment feel better. There is diversity and lots of different kinds of people that attend. They offer a large variety of classes with 20 AP classes, dual enrollment, and the AICE program. However, the physical school needs renovation, the building is very old, there aren't enough bathrooms for all the students and a lot of the classroom are disconnected from each other making it hard to get to class on time. There are positives to being so close to the beach like the weather and hands on learning opportunities; there are also set backs like the many birds, and bugs. Alum: Hello! I am a graduate student from Atlantic Coast High School, graduating in 2021. In my first year here, I was able to create tight bonds with my classmates that still go strong today and it was possible due to the positive environment the school created. I was hard of hearing and I absolutely loved the accommodations they offered. Of course, this is a 4-star review as I've had very few hardships that posed a large obstacle for me in my 4 years learning. There were a few teachers that made it difficult to understand the material and a great need to revamp the learning material they're given. It's extremely stressful when every year, another lesson is added onto the pile. That said, I absolutely love this school despite it's flaws and I hope it thrives and changes in the coming years.... Middle School Student: Landon was a three year school that provided me with the necessary resources and preparation for high school. Every year there were two difficult classes, two extremely entertaining classes, three classes where we did not do much and one boring class. High School Senior: The teachers are excellent! Each one was very knowledgable of their subject. Reading and writing, science, math, and history were always taught very well, and I came away with great information. The teaching methods differed from teacher to teacher, but each one was able to help me learn. Scheduling was fairly straightforward and easy, just take the classes you have to take, and choose whatever electives you'd like. The workload was substantial, but nothing unbearable. Parent: My daughter only got to complete one year here before we had to move. We are heartbroken she cannot continue. The staff is amazing and so inspiring in helping the kids pursue their chosen passions. They teach the kids how to both give and accept appropriate criticism to help their peers grow. We were a part of the drama department and there’s not enough space to say how much of an impact they made on us. I love the administration and the teachers. They are creative and fun. My child gets a great education and has a good time. I love the diversity of the student body, and since it isn't easy to get into, you generally have more involved parents. Senior: It was a rather fulfilling experience. Along with the educational side of it, you gain even more friends when in an extracurricular activity. For me it was soccer and swimming. Those things and the teachers there were great. A lot of them really wanted to prepare you for highschool and see you succeed. Also, the end of the year rewards were nice to indulge into as well. My only issue then was having only 5 minutes to get to my next class. It was difficult because it's a big property; you could have a class in the main building and the next period have it on the other side of the school. Besides that I didn't have many complaints.... Parent: This is an excellent school for kids and parents. The teachers stay in contact with you and give the students the attention they need and deserve. They have an amazing before and aftercare program with online payments. Every time I call they answer. Teachers get back to you within hours not days. They do not have buses but I’m telling you from experience bringing your kids here as it is worth the pick up and drop off lines. They are run smoothly and the staff keeps it way.
