Senior: Classical is a one of a kind school. When I tell people I attend Classical, I receive both praise and envy, which really shows its excellent reputation. One teacher told my class that you "do high school only once." Early on I took advantage of the opportunities the school has to offer, to make friends, take challenging courses, connect with faculty, join clubs, run for class president... do everything that would maximize my full potential in the quickest four years of my life. Classical is where I explored and found myself. As a result I gained experience and now feel prepared to go to college and the real world. There are very few students who take the school for granted, but they don't realize that other schools aren't on par with ours. Alumni tell their biggest regret is not taking advantage of their time at Classical. Even though I did so much at the school, I definitely agree that I could've done more! Alum: My experience at Blackstone Valley Prep was excellent. This school gave me so much. I was luck enough to find great friends from there. I was able to connect with people that came from different backgrounds as me. I was able to trust the adults in the building because they would ask me if I was okay when I looked off. Not only did they ask about it but they made sure to listen when we talked to them about it. We were able to get ready for the years after high school. Whether it be college, work, travel, and more they made sure that there was a team there at school to prepare us for what was about to come. There is so much more that I have learned through the years and not just academically. I was able to decide that I was to be a teacher. And the teachers there helped me to learn what kind of teacher I wish to be. The students there taught me it is okay to be yourself. It let anyone tell you to me different. Parent: I don't know where the negatives complaints are coming from! I am a parent of 2 children, one is now in the high school, and the other is in 8th grade in the middle school. Both LOVED their experience here. The teachers are compassionate and very helpful. They have designated days in which they stay after school if a student needs extra help. The principal is very understanding and takes discipline seriously (as a principal should). The after school activities are plentiful. The students seem very friendly and outgoing. Alum: I will never forget my time at Elementary School 2. The atmosphere at this school was bright and cheerful, and I was always excited to come to school to learn about new things. The teachers were always extremely kind and caring towards me, especially when I felt nervous. The curriculum was challenging but interesting. The community was extremely close-knit, which could be seen by an activity called Community Circle. Every Friday the whole school would gather in the cafeteria where we would all sing a song and give out awards based on the PRIDE values of the school. These were Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Enthusiasm. The school always made sure that the kids followed these core values. Alum: Lincoln Senior High School provides students with the necessary means for a smooth transition into adulthood. It offers an abundance of classes that fit a variety of college majors and career paths. In addition to the academics, LHS has a history of strong school spirit as displayed by both the students and teachers. Throughout each school year, the school hosts multiple dances, events, and fundraisers that nurture this mentioned school spirit. The physical school building has recently undergone major updates to improve the overall environment. This will allow all incoming students to perform schoolwork and sports in spaces better geared towards success. Examples of this include new and advanced technology as well as a turf football field where Friday night games are hosted. Despite all of these positives, something that could be improved is the food. Senior: Overall, Cumberland high school gave me everything a high school experience should. People are very invested in school sports events, with football games being a major event. School spirit events are treated the same way- in fact, I traded a shift at work to be able to support my grade at class clash! There is a vibrant social environment and most students are very welcoming. While there is the occasional big scandal, for the most part, the school is able to keep rumors under wraps and make sure everyone feels safe. Alum: Going to JMW was probably the best school experience I’ve had the 14 years I’ve spent as a student. This school is supportive and makes sure that everyone feels welcome. The art programs are fully developed and give good insight while the academics provide everything we need to succeed in the future. It’s a small community so everyone knows everyone and it’s very easy to make a good relationship with the teachers. They have a no bullying policy and the even if there wasn’t, the students wouldn’t have a problem. Everyone gets along and is friendly. Walking down the hall in middle school was the worse experience. I always had my head down and made sure no one was looking at me. JMW gave me the confidence to say hi to people in the halls. I always got put down in the middle school highways but at JMW at least one person would compliment me when I walked by.
