Alum: I liked how academically motivated this school is. I felt very prepared going into high school. It is one of the most diverse schools in Alaska, and you get to meet people from all sorts of backgrounds. It is fairly strict, meaning you cant chew gum, no phones, no flip flops...but it helps you get good studying habits without distractions. The teachers (especially the middle school teachers) are willing to help people who need extra help as well. Alum: Don't listen to whoever that other person is, Watershed is great. The teachers are phenomenal and the atmosphere among students is compassionate and kind. It has a very family-like vibe because the school is so small. The academics are great but kids also get a lot of time outside, especially the middle schoolers, going on trips to homer and the white mountains. Middle School Student: I go here, it is okay. There were lots of school fights last year and potential violence. The teachers, however, are very interesting and relatively laid back while still keeping where we need to be (or better) academically. So far I have enjoyed the excitement and experiences there.... Junior: I have been going to Polaris K-12 School since I was in seventh grade and I fell in love with it! I love going to a school where kids ranging from kindergarten to twelfth grade walk the hallways. As a person who wants to work with kids as an adult, this is the perfect environment for me. All of the teachers are very understanding and push the students to do their best in everything they do. The students also have a huge voice when it comes down to what has happened around the school. I love the block schedule and the opportunity to take college classes at the school. The only problem with this school is the drama that goes around among the students. There are many students that were very dramatic in middle school and that brought a lot of conflict throughout the grade. High school, however, is drama free. I also wish that the drama department had a theater so that all of the concerts would not have to be preformed in the gym. That is the only problem with smaller schools.... Read 54 reviews

Freshman: I been going to this school all my life and over the years the help find what I wanted to do In my life. I made good friend for going to this schools and I made good friends from the other schools in this district from playing sports. I grow up with so much good teachers throw out the years from going to this school I had some really great connections with this teacher and sometimes they feel like friends not teachers. This school helped me learn how to read and write even tho I didn’t want to do it but I know that it is going to help me later on in my journey of life. Parent: I currently have a 7th grader and two 3rd graders at Rilke. We have been there for over 7 years now and could not recommend the school enough. The staff and teachers care about the students. They want them to be successful, not only as a student but as a person. The class sizes are smaller and allow for more one on one attention, they have before and after school clubs if needed for work, and they have a great dress code. Senior: Kenny Lake School has been a great experience. It is a super small school, with about 18 kids in the high school side, so you know everybody. You are able to form such strong bonds with other students and faculty members that you almost become family members. One thing that is lacking for our school is funding.
