Parent: My son considers this the best school experience he's ever had. Flying gliders, learning to build, program and fly drones, and having regular practice time in many different kinds of flight simulators are a few highlights of his experience at CSA. He made a lot of industry contacts and gained visibility into many real-life industry topics that he otherwise wouldn't have if he wasn't part of CSA. He gained confidence in his abilities and knows a lot about his social-emotional well-being and how to advocate for himself as he continues on his educational journey. The project-based learning approach meets all of the state requirements in education and allows children to learn in a way that works best for them. The excitement from the kids is palpable, and there is genuine curiosity and eagerness in their learning. Parent: I am so thankful that we chose GALS for our daughter for middle school. Within the first few weeks of school, I saw my daughter's confidence flourish and bloom, and she is excited to go to school each and every day. Middle school can be hard no matter where you go, but at GALS they have such a tremendous support system that every girl feels valued and heard. The daily GALS series is something I wish I had growing up! It tackles everything from self-worth or self-care, and millions of other invaluable topics. Senior: I moved to DCIS in 9th grade during the pandemic. But after the adrenaline rush of starting high school, I was immediately met with kindness from everyone. After a few years, the administration declined in communication which makes every event, schedule change and club activities difficult to coordinate or understand. Parent: No words of the writer of this review could ever be as impactful to the reader’s decision as would be the reader’s own review of the monthly newsletters sent from this administration to the school community. If you truly want a glimpse into how this school operates, write to them and request a copy of the monthly newsletters since Covid. And then read them all. The administration leaves no room for doubt about the thoughtfulness and breadth of understanding employed during the process to arrive at decisions in matters of high importance. My favorite quote from one of those newsletters comes from a discussion regarding how the school handles questions of a highly personal, religious or otherwise polarizing nature from students, which was: ‘We consider ourselves a partner in the upbringing of your child, the junior partner’ This school is the real deal. Parent: Our family has been at Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County since 2018. While the school had a bumpy start for multiple reasons, we have been happy with the education our children have received. This is probably in large part because of the school's partnership with Barney Charter School Initiative. The curriculum is solid. I LOVE the classic American values that Ascent teaches rather than the crazy upside down values that are so popular in mainstream education. The teachers are passionate about teaching academics and virtues. They are top-notch. Currently, we are happy with the administration and it looks like we might have finally found some stability in that area. The facilities might not be as fancy as other schools, but they do a good job with what they have. My husband and I are blown away with how much our children have learned and know they are receiving a better education than we ever got as kids. Parent: We absolutely love PPA! We have a middle schooler and our kindie is starting in the fall. I love the mix of arts and education that all the kiddos are exposed to. Until PPA, our kiddo was just getting by and unhappy. At PPA, we are thriving. I love the parents, teachers, administrators and staff as well as the other kiddos that attend. It's a great environment. Even if you have a kiddo who is less into the arts, exposure to them is amazing. Ours went from hating dance to it being his favorite class. PPA is truly a gem.... Senior: The 7 years I have been at RMSEL I have felt incredibly safe and welcome in the unique environment RMSEL has. It's fills a niche that I love. While it doesn't offer AP or IB, it has CE and a lot of opportunities you wouldn't get otherwise (but since RMSEL is so small, if you ask/advocate for certain things you can most likely make them happen), like Internship/SLE (Senior Leaning Experience), and the trips! I've been snowshoeing, rafting, rock-climbing, waking up at 4am to see wolves, and hiking 40+ miles on the CT all because of this school. But it has its downsides, some people don't like small classes, staff turnover is high (except Dinkel), and communication between students and admin is not optimal (but has gotten better). RMSEL itself doesn't have sports outside of middle school, but in high school you are able to play sports for other schools (GW, TJ, South). There's a lot I've probably missed not going to a normal high school, but I think RMSEL has made up 10x in experience!... Read 28 reviews

Other: My time with Early College of Arvada has shown me the true meaning of a school that cares about their students. I have personally witnessed staff address students by their individual names, inquire on how they are and offer support. Each student is treated with respect and as young adults that still need guidance and support with academics and life. Each class is at a supportive ratio allowing for more direct instruction and support by teachers. The students at this school are kind and welcoming which creates a inviting atmosphere for all students that attend the school. The upkeep of the school is done well and gives the students a clean and safe environment to learn. Parent: I LOVE this school. I have been affiliated with the school for 15 years - from living near by, having friends send their kids there, sending my kids, tutoring at the school and volunteering. The population is EXTREMELY diverse from ethnicity to socio-economic. I choiced my kids in - bc I love it so much. The teachers are top notch and definitely find ways to enagage your child. Senior: The overall experience of my time at the Pinnacle Charter High School was a fun four years. I never felt it was an unsafe or unwelcoming environment to learn. On the contrary, due to its smaller class sizes, I think it provided a closer environment with teachers and fellow students. I knew practically everyone who attended and this resulted in a close-knit community of our graduating class. Although I would describe my time there as wonderful, the academics and clubs of The Pinnacle Charter School fall behind in many aspects. I suffered in my math advancement because of the teacher shortage and for this reason, I feel I am behind 2 years of math. Pinnacle also doesn't offer a big variety of clubs because of the limited space and maybe the budget for the school.
