Senior: While Fredericksburg High School has adequately fostered my educational growth, the narrow-mindedness that runs rampant through the halls troubles me. I often hear racial slurs and jokes as well as hurtful comments thrown towards those who view issues differently than the majority. When these varying perspectives are not welcomed, ideas are suppressed, opportunities are limited and individuals feel trapped. I whole-heartedly believe that diversity makes a school stronger, and FHS has not exposed me to different cultures and ideas but rather, it has suppressed differences. When we acknowledge the inherent value of others and respect each other’s views and ideas, the possibilities for growth are endless. I desperately hope that one day soon, the people of FHS will open their eyes past the rolling hills of Fredericksburg to see the beauty in everyone and the value of being open to a diversity of ideas and views.

Alum: Overall, my experience at Junction High School was a roller coaster. But one thing that I can say, is I had some help from amazing people there that I will forever be grateful for who helped me along the way. From coaches to teachers, I couldn't have done it without them. On the days where I could hardly stay awake in class, or didn't think I could run one more lap around the track, I knew that they were right there beside me pushing me through. I can only encourage to others who are either currently in Junction High School, or soon will be, to let that one person find you who will help get you through the short 4 years you're there.

Harper High School

Senior: I believe that Harper High School really cares for their students. When students leave Harper they leave with a lot of scholarship money and career readiness. However, I would like to see more classes that involve health care related themes. Many students leaving Harper major in nursing or the medical field and I believe that these classes will help students become ready for college and their future career.
