Alum: A very open environment that will offer help when needed. There is not much preparation for the real world and there needs to be time spent on that.

Alum: For its small size and geographic isolation, I felt like Cody-Kilgore did the best it could in offering me and my peers opportunities for academic enrichment, extracurricular clubs and sports at the local and state levels. I would like to see the diversity of people in the school district (students, teachers, families, exchange students, guest speakers, etc.) and interests for varied extracurricular activities improve, but I think this lies more within the bounds of the rural development and community growth.

Valentine High School

Senior: Valentine High School is a small school located in the heart of cattle country. However, despite its small enrollment numbers, you will find a very diverse and impressive student body. Students of all walks of life come together through many extracurricular activities, such as FFA, music, student council, and several sports, including volleyball, basketball, cross country, wrestling, football, and track and field. Although there are not as many extracurriculars and clubs as there are in bigger schools, I do not feel that it is a setback for VHS; each activity makes up for what it lacks in numbers with quality and good learning experiences.
One of Valentine High School's greatest qualities is its caring and attentive staff. Each teacher and staff member makes it a point to let the students know that they are there for them and willing to help however they can. This in turn reflects onto the student body, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere to both returning and new students.
