Manhattan High School

Junior: I've jumped from school to school for a good part of my life; and with that I have had both bad and good experiences with different public schools. Manhattan High School is, comparably, a great high school. There are many extra curricular activities, the lunches have a good selection, and there's a lot of teachers that are honest and helpful to the students and parents. It also has options available for AP courses and free college credit courses that transfer easily between most of the schools in Kansas. The one thing that darkened my overall experience was the amount of homework in some classes. With working a part time job, out-of-school activities, and college level classes, I was getting very little sleep- if any. So, good school, but be aware of an increased workload from several nearby school districts.

Rock Creek Junior/Senior High School

Senior: Rock Creek is a great school with wonderful educators and a great community! The academics and extracurriculars are unmatched, especially when you take a look at the debate/forensics program and the music program. The faculty and staff are friendly and approachable and the students are generally welcoming and kind. The only downside to this school is the location, it really is in the middle of nowhere. The academics and community far outweigh this downside!

Alum: I would like to see the school try block scheduling. Also, the school should try to increase the student involvement and enthusiasm.

Wabaunsee Senior High School

Senior: Wabaunsee High School is a small town, tight knitted community where everyone supports everyone. It’s in the heart of the Flint Hills in Alma Kansas. We are a 2A school who has multiple small towns joining into one to create a warming environment for learning. We are blessed to have incredible teachers of all ages and ranges of specialty. Being a small town school we love our sports! We have won multiple state titles, and have recurring state appearances in multiple sports each year. Our clubs are amazing also! The past four years i’ve attended Wabaunsee we have had plentiful state qualifiers in knowledge-bowl, FCCLA Star-Events, and multiple categories through FFA. While we do have a historic main building to our school, it is a bit run down. With funding being very tight we tend to just skip by, by only fixing the problems with our building by doing the least but most affordable way they can. It’s still a great learning, positive environment for student life to flourish.

Wamego High School

Senior: I transferred to Wamego High School in the middle of my freshman year and my experience here has been outstanding! The classmates are nice, the teachers are there for you, and the school is set up to help you succeed. The only issue I have had is that they change their policies every year and as a soon-to-be former student, I would like to see them stick to one policy. When they change the policy it makes the year confusing. Other than that the school is out of this world and I hope to see the school prosper.

Riley County High School

Senior: At Riley County High School, the teachers really care about your success. They are willing to help, but they also make sure to teach independence. Through out high school, the students are working on figuring out there plans for after high school. All of the projects and assignments related to this topic that are completed throughout the students high school career are then compiled together into a what is called a "Senior Engagement Project". So as I was saying, they truly care about their students and want to help them succeed. My experience here was very good.
