Alum: The teachers care about the students. The culture is very good. The small size means opportunities are limited, but the administration does what they can to help that. No sir conditioning outside of the library so it gets pretty toasty in the warmer months.

Mt. Zion High School
#245 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- Mount Zion Community Unit School District No. 3, IL
- 152 reviews
Senior: To be perfectly honest, the education here is top quality. The English and History departments are flawless, Math has strong teachers, and the Science is fine. Even though the education is great, most sports are on par with the level of excellence. The people are your typical small-town Midwesterners but are for the most part a jolly bunch. The school spirit and opportunities are abundant and most of the teachers seem to genuinely care for the students.

Meridian High School
#335 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- Meridian Community Unit School District No. 15, IL
- 25 reviews
Alum: As an alumni of Meridian, I believe that I was provided the best education possible by a small school. Small schools will rarely be diverse and will rarely have the opportunities that larger schools can provide - and that is not a reason to dock the school. It has been 20 years since I was last in HS and I can tell you that the opportunities that are available at Meridian now are far above and beyond what was available then. Give it a chance - it is small, safe and the teachers care about their students. If you don't feel as if you teacher cares, then perhaps it is up to you, the student, to find out what you can do to change that attitude. Your experiences are what you make of them!

Okaw Valley High School
- Okaw Valley Community Unit School District No. 302, IL
- 47 reviews
Alum: The best part of attending Okaw Valley was, hands-down, the interaction with the staff. The teachers and administration never failed to make you feel like you were cared for, or that help was available whenever you should need it.
