Senior: Being a small school, collegiate has offered me many opportunities that I would not be exposed to at any other high school. We are offered amazing internship opportunities geared towards our personal interests. One of the most rewarding aspects of collegiate is that we are connected with two of the most prestigious universities in Missouri (Washington University and St. Louis University). This allows students to become accustomed with these colleges which they have a high possibility of attending. The teachers at collegiate are phenomenal as well. I have never been at a school where teachers have been so invested in seeing you succeed. I don’t give collegiate 5 stars because of administrative personnel. I feel that the leader of our school is not setting students up for success. Collegiate has been amazing overall. Not only have I learned academically, but I have also learned life lessons that I wouldn’t learn anywhere else.

Junior: CHS has a lot of great opportunities for dull-credit classes so you knock out some college credits in high school. There are a lot of vocational class options that allow you to see if the career you’re looking to go into is really for you before you have to pay for it in college. They have co-op classes where you get to work for half of the school day. This allows kids to make some money while still attending school. And most importantly, the culture at Collinsville High School is among the best. The students, staff, faculty, coaches, and community are all so supportive of each other and the Kahok way. CHS is a very safe, culture filled school that will truly prepare students for whatever their future holds!

Senior: I have only been going to Granite City High School for two years, but technically four. Granite City High School has a program called “The Running Start Program.” I am in this program. This program lets you go to SWIC a two year college while you’re still in high school, so when I graduate in a few months I will graduate high school with an associates degree. While I was at the high school I was treated great. The teachers always helped me and were always nice. They all encouraged me to do better and to never give up. There are several clubs, so there are many ways you can get to know other students and become active with the school. There are some fights, but the school does their best to try to resolve all of the problems. They are always thinking about different ways to make sure we are safe. Our security is going up and the school is improving. I am glad that I have had the chance to be a Granite City Warrior!

Alum: I loved a lot of things about my school. I loved how I actually learned things. My teachers made sure we knew the information. They didn't just come for a check, they came to make sure we learned. I loved being involved with the National Honor Society. I loved being a part of the cheerleading and volleyball team. I loved the fact that our counselor was always on us about things we needed to know and do. Overall, my high school experience was awesome.
