Normal Community High School
#71 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- McLean County Unified School District No. 5, IL
- 366 reviews
Senior: Normal Community High School is average for the Freshman and Sophomore years. When you are able to take AP classes during your Junior and Senior years, academics improve to very good. As with many schools, there is a wide variety of teachers - some just show up, and others excel at teaching.
Extra curricular activities are varied, and it is easy to start your own club if you have a specific interest. It is a large school with over 2000 students, so you can sometimes feel overwhelmed. An area where greater improvement can be had is college preparation. The college prep counselor is helping the majority of the students, so if you are a student who wants to reach for something other than community college or local universities, you have to do quite a bit of work on your own.

Tri-Valley High School
#136 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- Tri-Valley Community Unit School District No. 3, IL

Senior: I have been at Tri-Valley since kindergarten and have loved every year of it. Through my years there I have made so many friends and have gotten to connect with teachers. I haven’t met a teacher yet that hasn’t helped each and every one of their students with open arms. With balancing a job clubs and school they have made it manageable to do all successfully. The school is one of the safest places that will make you feel like home and because of our small class size you know everyone and have been with most of them since kindergarten. Because of those teachers and their support, I have decided to become a teacher myself after I graduate this year.

Le Roy High School
#179 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- Leroy Community Unit School District No. 2, IL
- 53 reviews
Senior: I had a wonderful time at Le Roy High School. My father has been a teacher here for over 20 years and I feel very connected to the community. The community supports the school very well. Le Roy is focused and dedicated to preparing students for success in college and in life. Most of the teachers are dedicated to student success and are willing to go above and beyond for them. The culture of the school is very typical and most people are very friendly. We have a decidingly obvious lack of diversity as we have no African-American students and only a few Hispanic students in a school of 245.

Ridgeview High School
#188 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- Ridgeview Community Unit School District No. 19, IL
- 35 reviews
Senior: My experience at Ridgeview was amazing. I went to Ridgeview k-12 and loved every minute of it. The teaching staff is incredible for a small, rural school. The staff always made sure you were reaching your highest potential. I loved the atmosphere of the school and the positive energy that flowed through it each and everyday. Each day teachers were prepared to teach new lessons and provide new activities. Most students were prepared to learn and take in new information each and everyday. Clubs and activities were limited due to being a small school, but each club had many opportunities. Many of the opportunities included volunteer options and giving back to the community. At Ridgeview the club leaders lead by example and I think that is why Ridgeview becomes a better place each and every year.
