Niche User: I'm sure everyone who has ever gone through the rough 4-year high school system has wanted to either get out as soon as possible or go back and change things drastically. I know I want both, and it is my senior year at LFHS. Freshman year was a great experience for me because I got to discover myself. It's true- high school changes you. I grew up. My first year was not heavy on coursework, but I wish I had taken more rigorous courses and excelled in my studies more. The high school offers a lot of chances and freedoms to change up your schedule and take courses you would not usually take at other schools. Almost every teacher has their own plan for their classes, and every one of them tries to be interactive and get their students intrigued on at least one topic throughout the year. For example, in US History CP, my teacher showed us a powerpoint on the different types of guns used during American wars. I think we all might agree that looking an an online picture is not the same as viewing it in real life. Hence, my teacher brought one of the guns he collects to school the next day and showed us the parts, and allowed each of us to hold it. I really felt like I was in a soldier's shoes. Of course, there was no ammunition. The environment is challenging, however, there are many opportunities to grow into yourself. Try a sport, join a club. Your schedule (if planned out well), will allow for time to join Model United Nations, or tryout for Varsity tennis, and everybody comes to football games during the fall season to show off school spirit. Go Scouts!
