Senior: Teachers are very professional & are very inspiring to me to continue with the program after trying to drop out many times through my 3 years. They keep me going every day to work and push harder. They never gave up on me and always believed me even when I was at my lowest. They try their best to engage with the students and with having dual credit is very blessed for my area to have an associates degree and a high school diploma at the age of 18. The campus is beautiful and small which I very much like and they provide a lot of food around the campus and lots of supportive resources for students. Alum: New Tech Odessa is a different kind of school, everything from the way students and teachers are addressed to how students handle projects is totally unique to NTO. There you are expected to do more than the average high school student in the state, where you are placed in AP/Dual classes and electives. That is not to say that it is a bad thing, in fact I am glad for it because it taught me that adversity is the greatest teacher and character builder. At NTO you are treated like an adult and given assignments and projects that require your own research, teamwork with others, and the implementation of technology and software to succeed in the curriculum. There are some areas that I think could use some improvement coming from a graduate of the school, I think that they are too stringent regarding specific rules, such as punishing all students by not letting them use the common areas or patio area because freshmen were misusing the bathroom.... Junior: Like every other school, they have perks and flaws. What i mostly experienced in that school was the academics. That school is rank in one of the best academic schools in the region, so I guess is a good school. Except for some of the people. Students there were rude and unfriendly, but thank goodness I met some of the greatest people there. Another thing is the diversity. There's not a lot of color people there. Sophomore: Grady is an amazing school all the way around. From the staff to the students, it is a great place to learn. I've gone to school at Grady since I was in Kindergarten, and it has been a great experience. My favorite part about Grady is the small class size. It helps make the learning experience super easy. Parent: I love Compass Academy! The classes are capped, so they aren't over crowded - this allows teachers time to work with students one on one when its needed, and tutoring is easy to come by. Senior: I have enjoyed going to school here and can not imagine going anywhere else. The facilities are new and most of the teachers are very helpful and polite. The only problem that I can see is college readiness. The school is pretty strict when it comes to cell phones and dress code. Every high school has restrictions but in the case of college readiness, they lack support. The school almost babys the students in college classes which may cause problems in the following years. Senior: STEM Academy was a great place to choose since my family and myself didn’t want to be involved with ECISD. There was also private school but we mainly didn’t have the money for that so STEM was out best option. This school mainly focuses on what it stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. There are no sports other than the few lessons they give you about different ones in P.E. STEM has you college ready and preparing for adulthood by the 6th grade. Senior: My overall experience with greenwood high school has been a good one! It has been a great place to grow up and be educated in. The sense of community here is astounding! The small-town feeling that I once knew however is slowly starting to change. This is good and bad all at once. We are reaching more students and impacting them, but these not many if these new students are contributing to our school in positive ways. For example, their parents don't live in our district and are there for not paying the correct taxes as well as the fact that crime and misbehavior has increased. Senior: At Monahans High School school spirit is incredibly important. There are quite a few academic opportunities offered to students. The Dual Credit students have the opportunity to graduate high school with an associate degree through a local community college. Honors classes are available for core classes. We have numerus extracurriculars to choose from. Band, choir, and theater are offered for fine arts. We have football, volleyball, powerlifting, tennis, swimming, baseball, softball, and basketball. Numerous UIL events are available to students as well. Recently Robotics UIL was introduced to our school. Traditions are extremely important in this school. These traditions range from class skits at the talent show every year, to class competitions at homecoming. The reward for both is longer lunches which can sometimes sever and incentives to participate for students. Being such a small school most of the staff will know you. Senior: OCTECHS is an early college class. As you are completing your high school degree, you are also earning an associate degree through your chosen program. Because it is a fairly small school, everyone has gotten to know each other. People know the face of everyone in their grade and even a few in other grades. While there I felt a great sense of family. The teachers are very understanding of the workload. They know you are doing high school and college and are there to help you in any way they can. They expect the best out of you. There are many clubs to choose from, many of which are to bring life to the school or for students to enjoy themselves. The clubs are the heart of this campus. One thing I would change is to add sports and music. Senior: I have loved my experience at Midland Legacy High School. We are a 6A high school with about 2600 students in 10th through 12th grades. LHS is a diverse school due to the district attendance zones, and it offers many student organizations, activities, and dual credit and AP courses. The biggest thing I would like to change about my school is the facilities. LHS was built over 50 years ago and has only had a few updates. Most of these updates have been to add a science wing and install Wi-Fi. The problem is the high school across town is older and needs even more updates. Both schools deserve new buildings, but the city needs help to build two new high schools simultaneously. Overall, I have received an excellent education and played football for one of the best teams in Texas. Anyone can find the bad or the disagreeable parts of a school; I choose to see the good. Senior: My time at Permian High School has been more than a challenge. What I like most about the school is the fact that both teachers and students were a support for my professional growth and maturation, and as an individual in this society. Senior: As a senior in the class of 2023, I had a great experience at Big Spring High School. BSHS holds a variety of electives to do and clubs to take part in for all different types of interests. I, for instance, am in E-sports and participate in academic competitions for Math and Science and compete in marching band competitions. Aside from sports, there are other electives such as welding, where students can earn a welding certification, theater production, speech and debate, real estate, Microsoft software classes, and etc. From experience, I would say the best thing here is the students. Everyone that I have known here at Big Spring High School really does their best in what they do. At least someone in most electives have qualified for a state competition and others come close to the achievement. The students here are very welcoming especially to new students and will make them feel like they belong very quickly. The only annoying part is staff drama, and that we have low funding....
