Senior: Overall my experience at Carmel High School has been pretty good! My first year it was a bit of a struggle because of us being on a hybrid schedule due to COVID-19, so it made it harder to get to know people and make friends. Although, since then I have had a good time at CHS. I believe that they prepare you the best they can with the school having over 5000 students. I have learned that there is a lot of help and resources available for that help, but you have to be the one to go out and look for it. Something that I wish they would do differently is promote clubs better. This is because the school has an immense amount of clubs, however, students are not regularly exposed to them or even know that they exist. I think that something the school could do to improve this is have a day after school where they have a clubs fair. Senior: Zionsville High School is a large, appealing public high school. Recently it's undergone changes to better accommodate the lives of students such as a new cafeteria and entrance. We have several options to pick for lunch every day, but usually it's the same few options every day. I've had mostly positive experiences with the staff. I believe most the staff tries to create a safe inclusive learning environment for all students. I also have not had a class where I felt I was not being taught anything useful or being forced to do too much at once. The social atmosphere here is very good. I haven't seen many problems with bullying, and there are little to no fights here. I think this school prioritizes sports over other extra curriculars. I would be interested in events for clubs other than sports. This school is definitely not very diverse. Senior: In general, Herron High School is a wonderful place to get an education. The teachers all genuinely care about the students, and treat them as fellow people. Students are polite and spirited, and unique! There's so much diversity in these halls. The main issues are with communication- emails can be confusing and either too frequent or not frequent enough, scheduling is strange, and overall Herron is a very nontraditional school, which can work for some but definitely won't work for all.... Senior: I moved during 2020 to Westfield, IN and probably one of the best high schools in terms of its academics and rigor of courses. The teachers at Westfield high school are willing to help student whether being academically or having conversations how they been doing outside school. Students at Westfield Highschool are very passionate about the clubs they participate in and try to figure out how they can make them better and accessible to more students to enjoy. Westfield also doesn't tend to have a lot of problems relating to bullying which is a huge plus coming from very bad past experiences. My favorite activities have been Cross Country and Track for its team aspect, and Esports club since my biggest passion is technology and gaming. The best part of Westfield Highschool has to be the Trimester System which allows 15 classes a year over 14 on a semester schedule. Senior: I have been blessed with the honor of attending Fishers High School, all my teachers have been caring, kind, and supportive to me as I've progressed throughout my high school career. Senior: From attending Ben Davis University, one of the most prominent benefits has been the completion of a 2 year associates degree at the end of the curriculum through Vincennes University. I like that the school has a multitude of different resources in order to assist students in completing their assignments as well as additional help in college preparations. Freshman: Although i’ve only attended this school for a year, the relationships i’ve built with teachers and staff are easily accessible and helpful. The way some grading systems work within Noblesville have occasionally been frustrating and upsetting. Most teachers are extremely strict within their ways and refuse to agree with our previous educational experience. Senior: My experience with Herron Riverside has been both enlightening and challenging. One of the best parts of my journey has been the opportunity to learn and grow in ways I never anticipated. The knowledge and skills I've gained have been invaluable. Freshman: Franklin Central High School is a great school in terms of academics. There are many teachers with various teaching strategies which is a great way for students to learn about their learning process. There are also many opportunities, such as the C9 classes which allows Juniors and Seniors who are caught up with their credits to experience a certain work field. The great thing about Franklin Central is the CCR Fridays at the high school. The high school runs on a periods 1-7 schedule from Monday to Wednesday. Students are dismissed at 2:15. On Thursdays, students attend odd classes which are periods 1, 3, 5, and 7. Students are dismissed at 2:15 PM on Thursdays. On Fridays, students have an even day and they attend periods 2, 4, and 6. Students are released at 12:45 PM on Fridays. However, FC provides a second round of buses for students that need to stay til 2:15. Senior: Although this school is small compared to all of the other schools in Indiana, Perry Meridian High School does not lack when it comes to introducing new culture, diversity, or new opportunities. I have had the pleasure of getting involved in this school, being in many clubs and sports, and the only thing I regret is not joining more! PMHS gives their students a safe place where we can learn, and the teachers there always make us students feel welcomed and accepted. The only downside I saw with this school were the lunches. I thought it was a little unfair for students, especially athletes, to have to pay extra to get either more food or just another drink. Senior: I have had a great time at Cascade! I have been in the corporation since kindergarten. Throughout high school, I have loved most of my teachers! Cascade has great academics and I love that they offer advanced placement and dual credit classes to get a head start on college classes. They offer a range of sports and clubs as well. Throughout high school, I have had a few teachers that I have not had great experiences with, however those teachers are no longer teaching at the school. I believe that Cascade truly has a focus on the students and academics. One of the things that I would like to see change is the amount of sports. Alum: Throughout my high school career, there was an apparent difference between the students in honors and ap classes and the students in college prep classes. For a school with a large body of students of color, the ratio of these students in challenging classes could have been better. There just wasn't much of an initiative to push students who weren't already on the honors track to pursue challenging courses or even extracurriculars. That being said compared to other schools the diversity of socioeconomic class, ethnicities, and overall student body added to the overall culture of the school. Exposure to different types of people in my experience makes for a more open-minded individual. That being said, the lack of support for teachers did disrupt the academic career of many students after covid. Overall a good school with a relatively large number of athletic opportunities, lacking in the club area due to an absence of sponsorship, but the general education received was pretty standard.... Parent: Overall, I am happy with Whiteland Community High School. The teachers are excellent. My daughter has been challenged, excited and encouraged. I feel like the school (and overall system) communicates with me. I always feel informed of events and grades. The only complaint I have is that she did not get enough course guidance when choosing classes. Here's my example: She is going to obtain the Indiana CORE40 Honors program degree, which requires 4 years of math. She loves math. She took 2 math classes her Sophomore year and 3 her Junior year. However, the honors graduation track requires 1 class every year, not the cumulative classes. This left only 2 classes for her Senior year. One class was way below her level and the other was going to be far more time consuming and she wasn't interested in it. Senior: College Readiness: They do the bare minimum here, counselors don't really seem to care much, and LHS doesnt provide much coaching Athletics: The athletics programs are very good here, the big ones like basketball and football usually yield good crowds Fine Arts: LHS truly shines with its band and choir programs. The marching band being one of the best in the state relative to the size of the school, as well as the wind and jazz ensembles. The show choir being consistently good through the years also play into this Bullying: Bullying does happen, however, it is not very prevalent here. The problem arises in the cliquey culture of this school, usually making bullying a group against group thing rather than individual v individual Clubs: One of the worst parts of LHS, clubs exist but not many people do them, and the club selection that we do have are lackluster overall: I would say 3.6/5, good academics and fine arts, but lacking clubs and college readiness bring it down....
