Junior: Homestead is a really great school. Homestead offers many AP classes so you are sure to be challenged, there are also a bunch of elective classes from ceramics to scuba diving. The sports teams are really amazing with a number of teams winning their first state championship in recent years. The energy at the football games is contagious with Homestead never failing to fill up the student section at home games. Here everybody can find their niche. With a wide variety of clubs offered after-school, you can be sure to find some like-minded people. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the food in the cafeteria has drastically reduced in quality, but they have slowly begun to implement the items that I looked forward to my freshman year at that had disappeared. On diversity, the school is mostly white but it is a little more diverse than some other high schools in the local area, but there is still room for improvement. Senior: I love my school because of the school spirit, size, and excellence. Carroll strives for excellence and we are a large school with many activities and people. The reason I rate my experience a 4/5 is because after the pandemic, certain activities such as pep rallies stopped happening. Senior: Going to this school has honestly been a life-changing experience for me. They stayed true to their word when they said it would be a lot of work, but it allowed me to experience learning at a college level early, further preparing me for college life way more than other high schools could. And as an incoming senior, I am on my way to obtaining my associates degree in the spring of 2023! With how small the school is, the support system is phenomenal as well. But along with the early college experience, with this school being a “magnet school” I didn’t know at least 80% of the people in my class my freshman year. Senior: I liked and I didn't like Bluffton High school. While the people there weren't always the nicest or best people to be around, the school has great staff who are willing to help other students better themselves each and every day. My only complaint about the staff is how they handled bullying issues. It was almost as if they would punish the victim as well for not coming forward. Senior: Hey Guys and Gals, although I am a high school senior this my first year being a panther. So far my experience has been great with the faculty, my peers, and my teachers. Since I am all virtual I usually have quite a few technology problems, but the main office and others are always quick to my aid. When I am having trouble on a particular task my teachers are quick to reexplain the question and If I am still not getting they go through the question with me. The teachers also do a great job of checking up on the students and offer a lot of 1 to 1 help. My peers have helped me adjust to Snider in many ways. Many have welcomed me in open arms. Even though we are all virtual that doesn't keep us from conversating and helping each other out with questions we may have. Junior: I really like the curriculum at Garrett. I’ve been to a lot of schools and I was pleasantly surprised with the classes they offer. They do not offer AP courses but pretty much every subject has a Dual Credit version of it where you can earn college credits as well as high school credits towards your diploma. These college credits really stack up and prove to be an asset on college applications. Many people graduate Garrett either close to being or being a sophomore in college from the amount of college credits they already obtain. I would like to see more diversity but that’s something the school doesn’t have a whole lot of power over. The teachers are very personable and focus on student to student. They will help those who need it and dedicate time to making sure that the students understand. It is honestly the school with the most friendly and inclusive teachers that I have ever attended. Alum: I was recently enrolled at New Tech Academy at Wayne High School. I profoundly believe part of who I am today is due to the education and life skills I learned here. Instead of sitting at traditional desks and completing "normal" homework, I was taught through "project based learning", allowing me to develop strong leadership and communication skills. Aside from academics, New Tech prioritized students taking part in a family culture. From door decorating contests at Christmas to large homeroom potlucks at Thanksgiving, I experienced what it truly means to be at home, at school. Freshman: Woodlan is a fantastic school. They offer many classes so you can have exactly what you want. The atmosphere is great and there are many groups of people so you can fit right in. The extracurricular activities are amazing and the coach work their hardest with you to make sure you are playing at your best. The lunches are pretty great also. There is so much variation in the food it’s awesome, and there are always three choices per day in case you don’t like one or two of the choices. Or you can even bring something from home and warm it up a microwave. Everything about Woodlan I absolutely love and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. Parent: This school has turned the corner in the last year and is really starting run smoothly! Administration team is in their second year together and works hard with staff to continue to improve instruction, parent participation and student relationships. Students and staff are buying in to the change to a culture of mutual respect, high work ethic, high character and learning to be a voice in the local community. The band program, although hindered by overall funding, is still the best in NE Indiana...very high quality musicians that include two time defending state Champion Wildsiders jazz band. Athletic teams have not been good for a few years but are improving with new coaches and still getting students scholarships for the next level. Alum: South side high School is known around Fort Wayne as a "bad" or "not so good school." In reality, South Side is awesome. It is very diverse and has lot's of programs to participle in. Freshman: Our high school is separated into two schools in the same building. Columbia City High School (main), and Eagle Tech Academy (ETA). I’m attending ETA and will continue to do so until I graduate. At ETA all of the teachers actually care about their students and want them to be successful. There are so many opportunities to help each and every person be the most successful they can be. We’re a project based learning school, and have many classes other schools don’t have. For example, we have a Current Topics & Speech class, where we learn how to give speeches in many different ways. We are taught how to be persuasive, and to use our resources to get the effect we want when giving our speeches and presentations. It helps us be more confident in ourselves and our abilities. We have many class options for all kinds of different career paths to prepare us. Most importantly though, is that our school is a community.
