Senior: Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Genesee Early College. I think that the teachers there were great and pushed me to work harder and really got me ready for college. I will say that the work was hard but the teachers were there to support you when you needed it, you could even come in for free torturing after school if you needed it. Because of this school I have been taking real college classes since I was 16 at U of M - Flint. I have grown so much as a student and as a person in the last 5 years and have meet some amazing people. They only thing is that because of what type of school it is and the small size of it, there are no sports teams for the high school. Senior: With my time at Grand Blanc High School. I can say that the school lacks some features, but overall has a good culture. The students and energy around the school is overall good, and with the enormous amount of students you never have to worry about friends. Something the school lacks is relationships and consensus with students. The school implements policies and rules that students always disagree upon, but the school doesn't really listen to students'opinions. Senior: FHS..Oh man. Back when I was a Freshman, in the fall of 2019, I had thought that high school was intimidating and going to be extremely long. I had two older brothers who previously graduated from Flushing High School and were happy with the years they spent there. My Freshman and Sophomore years were affected greatly by the Covid 19 Pandemic. My experience was surely unique and something that I'll never forget. I remember sitting in one of my Freshman classes and thinking, "man, these are going to be the longest four years of my life." Now, with just over a month left before I graduate, I ask myself, "where did all the time go?" It just flew by. When I reflect upon my experience at FHS, I am able to recount memories I hadn't remembered in a long time, and think how lucky I was to meet the amazing people I did. Senior: New Lothrop High School is a very small community. My graduating class has only 65 kids! New Lothrop, although small, has an impressive athletic resume. We've won 25 state championships in a wide variety of sports in the state of Michigan. We have 16 state championships in wrestling, 3 state championships in volleyball, 2 state championships in basketball, 3 state championships in football, and 1 state championship in baseball! Besides our athletics, we also score in the top of our county academically. Our teachers truly care about each and every one of their students, and they even take the time to get to know us! It makes coming to school a lot easier everyday knowing your teachers care about you. Every year our top students go to some of the best colleges in the country. Senior: As a senior this school year (2021/2022) I can say that going to Holly HS has definitely been a great experience. Covid hit hard my sophomore year, but we were able to transition to online learning without total chaos. This school has taught me so much, and is such a great place for out students in the area to aspire towards success. Senior: During my time at Birch Run High School, I have made countless connections and close relationships with those around me and have made so many great memories that have shaped me into the person I am today. All of the teachers and administration care about you greatly and they make that known with the way they talk to students and how they go out of their way to help them. They want to know about your personal life, personality, and well-being and this creates an overall very tight-knit, safe, and caring learning environment for all. I have gone to Birch Run schools my entire life and have never wanted to be anywhere else, it feels like a home away from home. My mom had even taught at the elementary school for 30 years and I loved all of the late nights helping in her classroom and the memories my siblings and I made playing around the school and the playground after hours. Senior: I loved going to school at Linden High School. The teachers are amazing and always take their time explaining lessons. They will set up times to meet with you if you need extra help. I feel that I am ready for college due to what I have learned from everything from history, math, Spanish, government. etc. I have had the most amazing teachers who made learning fun and made the lessons interesting. Alum: I graduated Goodrich in 2017. My brother and sister both went there before me as well. So I have a great view of what Goodrich offers and what they could do better. I think the best thing about Goodrich is also the worst thing. Goodrich is such a small community where everyone is really close. Everyone wants to help each other in times of needs and are very supportive if someone goes on to be successful. But it can also be very dramatic since everyone knows everyone. There are situations in sports, administration, and other things where people get positions they probably shouldn't have gotten since they know somebody over somebody who was better. Senior: Mott Middle College is a five year high school. We get an extra year because we are an early college. We take college classes for free while managing our high school classes. Our high school is located on Mott Community Colleges campus in Flint, MI. I have personally had an amazing time at Mott. I am about to go into my 5th year there. It has provided me with opportunities that normal high schools would not get. These opportunities being: free college, college counselors, extra career counseling, honor societies, etc. With being able to take the amount college classes I have taken, it has prepared me better to go to a four year University. Also being on a college campus as high schoolers lets us to feel a sense of independence and allows us to take initiative of our own education. There are challenges and lots of changes that occur that are at any high school but there are tons of resources around me that have helped. Alum: Byron has its quirks, but it's better than most high schools around here. Because it's in such a small town, there aren't too many students who attend; my graduating class had maybe 100 students. The community is a bunch of kids who grew up together, teachers who watched us grow up, and staff behind the scenes who kept it all together, supporting us with all their hearts. Sure, sometimes the roof leaks. Sometimes, little plants grow in the corners where linoleum tiles broke and revealed the soil beneath. Maybe I did spend my high school years cringing through potholes in the parking lot (it was finally re-paved... AFTER I graduated). But, I'm grateful for the years I spent there. I wouldn't have met my best friend, or discovered my passion for environmental science in STEM class, or made happy memories in choir and drama club if I hadn't gone there. Alum: I had an overall positive experience at E. A. J., and I would definitely recommend attending. I loved the teachers, and I found it easy to learn because the staff really cared about us. I graduated knowing that the staff truly cared about me and my peers and our success. The environment was friendly, and I knew that wherever I went in the building I could look to any of the faculty for support and a kind word. If I were to change anything, it would have been the unity of the students. The staff seemed to try their best in this aspect, but it seemed as though students were often coddled when they misbehaved instead of facing any real punishment, creating a line between those who followed the rules and those who broke them, because everyone really was treated the same regardless.
