Niche User: I love this school! I know people here complain about how bad Shen is, but really it's just spoiled students who don't know what they have. Since this is a upper middle class suburb, the school gets a lot of funding. We have a great athletic program, many would even go further and say one of the best compared to other schools. With an Olympic sized pool, 16 tennis courts in great condition, a giant football field (used by the field hockey, soccer and lacrosse team as well), and a new weight room, we have the best of the best in the region. We also have great music and art programs. The school has it's own instruments (for both band and orchestra) so if students can't afford their own they can borrow one from the school. Students have many opportunities to excel at their instrument and even learn another one. I am not in the art program but, I have heard that it has many great teachers as well. Both, art and music play a big part at Shen, there is a music and art honor society at Shen (two different societies one for music called Tri-M and one for art) for those who love art/music and succeed academically Of course most people care the most about Academics, and rightly so. Shen has 14 AP classes. AP calculus ab, AP calculus bc, AP statistics, AP computer science, AP environmental, AP biology, AP chemistry, AP U.S. history, AP world history, AP Latin, AP language and composition, AP literature and composition, AP art, AP music theory. Shen also offers many college classes liked to local colleges. Also many students who are academically inclined are a year or two ahead in course. Shen also has the latest technology. With big HP touch screen desktops in the library, computer labs and tech rooms. There are also Chromebooks and iPads that teachers can bring into their class. The school has also integrated smartphones to keep students competitive in the changing world. All in all Shen has everything the option on how you use it is in your hands.
