Senior: Surry early is a very inclusive and diverse school. I loved that you could always be yourself and no one really judged each other. Everyone who goes to surry early really wanted to be there. That’s what makes it so special everyone’s working towards something. We also get to learn how to do college instead of being thrown in. We Have many great opportunities to excel and tutoring programs. All our books and college fees are paid for. We get a 2 year degree for free. Almost all of the high school teachers are supportive and have refreshing ways of teaching. I have loved my time at surry early and would recommend it a thousand times over. If your family doesn’t think they could pay for college, surry early is a great option. They want to help those who can’t afford college. The only things I would change about it is to bring back high school clubs. Before we had a time in the week where we had clubs and got to interact that’s now gone. Alum: The teachers and staff in the school was beyond helpful and a joy to be around everyday. They made sure each student got the help the need with school work or anything else they needed during the day/week. As far as education goes, this school prepared us for each and every homework assignment, quizzes, tests, ACT, SAT, midterms, and final exams. Senior: Very great teachers that care about you and your education. Everyone I have met at East Surry has been very nice and welcoming. The sports at East Surry are outstanding in just about every sport. If any issue comes up, the administration knows just how to handle the issue. I have had so much fun at Friday night football games. We would have themes every Friday and the whole student section would participate. I would say the school spirit at East Surry is excellent. I felt very safe at East Surry. Everyone had key cards that were necessary to get into the doors of the building. At the football games, no bookbag was allowed in order to keep everyone safe from someone sneaking in weapons of any sort. The teachers aren't just teachers at East Surry, they also are there for you if you are dealing with any personal issues they are there to help you. Junior: Millennium Charter Academy sets its standards with truth, goodness, and beauty. This motto has stuck with me since the sixth grade (current junior). Millennium Charter Academy pushes us to do better. We tend to perform better than the state and district on exams and are provided with loving staff members that allow us to seek help whenever needed. The small class sizes allow teachers to focus on all their students instead of just a selective few. We are able to come to them with a plethora amount of questions and always find our solution. Senior: My favorite thing about Surry Central was the AFJROTC program. This program helped me grow as a student, person, and leader. If there was one thing I would change it would be to get more students involved in different clubs/ honor societies. Most freshman do not join anything their first year because they either don't know about it or they are scared.
